What gets me about this is they will never use a quick but brutal method such as a bullet in the head or Guillotine

Bullet will cost the government a few cents to buy. The lethal injection crap costs around $100 for the government to buy. Bullet is quicker, cheaper, and little chance for any error.

The guy in Fl that lived for 30 minutes after the injections... how is that possible? The first injection they give you is supposed to knock you out within a minute or two. I think the next two injections shut your heart and lungs down... Must have either been a bad dose of something or his body was having trouble 'processing' the injections. Anyone with any info on this? If ya ask me, a .357 right to the head would have done him just fine!

Anyone with any info on this?

The med tech that put the IV in went through the vain instead of into it. It's not like it matters, all that meant is that it took longer for the drugs to get into his blood supply. It's just like getting a dose of morphine in the hospital, if they stick it in your butt it takes a couple of minutes before you feel it, if they put it in your IV tube you feel it instantly. He didn't suffer anymore because of it, he just had to wait around a little longer to die.

It's not like someone was raping him in a cold dark field after choking him with a belt...and then beating him in the head with a hammer 32 times...and then finally stabbing him in the chest 4 times...and then leaving him alone in the field to bleed to death all alone, naked, scared and in unimaginable pain while not having any idea why it had just happened to him, never getting to say good bye to his loved ones. As was the poor victim who the California judge decided that her killer might feel a little discomfort when he was being justly executed after being found guilty of murder by a jury and then given 25 years to try to find a legal way out of it.

There's hanging. They should build a gallows in San Quentin pronto. No mess, no fuss and death is quick. I believe its the method of execution in Washington State.

It can be fixed by a firing squad.

The ninth circuit maybe, but what about the death penalty? ;-)

Here is some good news from the State of Texas who won't have any activist judges standing in the way-

Scheduled for 01/10/07- Carlos Granados will be put to death by the State of Texas for his actions on 09/13/98, in Georgetown, Granados went to his girlfriend's residence and an argument ensued. Grenados used a long kitchen knife and stabbed his girlfriend, requiring hospitalization, and then Grenados killed the girlfriend's 3-year old child with a large kitchen knife.

Scheduled for 01/17/07- Johnathan Moore will be put to death by the State of Texas for his actions on 01/15/95, Moore and two co-defendants shot San Antonio Police Officer Fabian Dominguez in the face with a .25 cal. pistol who surprised the trio as they were robbing a house. Moore then took Officer Dominguez' duty weapon and shot him three times in the head as he lay helpless on the ground.

Scheduled for 01/24/07- Larry Swearingen will be put to death by the State of Texas for his actions on 12/08/98 Swearingen kidnapped, raped and then strangled to death 19 year old Melissa Trotter and left her tied to a tree in Sam Houston National Forest where she was found 25 days later.

Scheduled for 01/25/07- Ronald Chambers will be put to death by the State of Texas for his actions on 03/09/75 Chambers kidnapped Mike McMahon and his date Deja Sutton. Chambers took the two from a Dallas night club and forced them to drive to a secluded part of the Trinity river where he robbed and then shot them. Both McMahon and Sutton survived the initial gun shots but as Chambers was walking back to the car he heard the two call out to each other. He then returned and beat them both with the butt of a shotgun leaving McMahon dead and believing Sutton to be dead as well. Sutton waited until after Chambers was gone and was able to crawl approx one mile for help. Chambers has been tried 3 separate times for this crime and has received the Death Penalty from each jury. The First trial was thrown out because his defense team was able to argue that the state had unfairly prevented any black jury members to serve on his jury, his second trial was thrown out because defense argued that Chambers was not properly warned that any statements of guilt given to court appointed psychiatrists could be used against him.

Scheduled for 01/30/07- Christopher Swift will be put to death by the  State of Texas for his actions on 04/29/05 Swift  stabbed and strangled his 27-year-old pregnant wife, Amy Sabeh-Swift in Canton,TX and then traveled to another county where he strangled his mother-in-law, Sandra Sabeh, 61. He had his 5-year-old son with him during the killings. After killing the women, Swift and his son checked into a hotel where Swift abandoned the child after he fell asleep. Testimony indicated Swift killed his wife after they had a dispute because he quit his job. Amy was 8 months pregnant at the time of her murder.

The combination of chemicals used to kill the man in Florida seemed very strange to me. One to paralyze, one to anesthetize, and one to stop the heart. Why not just kill the guy quickly if you HAVE to do it?

Maybe the paralysis drug prevents the executed convict from reflexive twitching or jerking in response to the other drugs (which might be disturbing to the observers), so that it appears he is executed peacefully.

Or, perhaps the paralysis drug prevents him from pulling out the needle just before the lethal dose of heart-stopping drug is administered; a living death-row convict wielding a syringe containing deadly chemicals would potentially pose a dangerous situation to the executioners who eventually have to approach the convict.

Anesthesia was probably intended to make the execution more humane, and perhaps to ward off challenges that the heart-stopping drug causes excess pain.

NO! It's okay folks.

The solution to no death penalty is to simply put the poor "victim of society's failure to properly nurture" in a cage, weld the door shut and shove the absolute minimum numbers of unpalitable calories per day through a small slot and let them LIVE!

Exactly. I have never been able to fathom the 'lethal cocktail' method they use. Even a massive overdose of heroin would seem more sensible and to the point.

How about execution done in the same manner as perpetrated upon the victim?
