US Senator Bill Nelson met Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Wednesday, a week after a US bipartisan panel recommended the Bush administration engage Syria to help stabilize Iraq.
Nelson, a Democrat, was named to the Senate Intelligence Committee this week and said he was on a fact-finding mission to the region. He left later for Amman, Jordan.
Impertinent twit.
No doubt in my mind that he went over to personally share intel.

Unfortunately my Lost in Space Senator appears to have been possesed by the spirit of Jimmy Carter. Bill - What the hell are you thinking???? I really wish Jeb had run for the Senate - then bill would be polishing his rocket.
What is it with the Democratic party? This is just one more of a string of "meetings" where representatives feel the need to carry out independent talks with those who are technically our enemies.

What is needed here is that goofy space (bunny) blue suit John Kerry was caught in when he went on that trip to NASA. I believe there is a photo of Bill Nelson too. I remember he accompanied John Kerry on that trip. So if any freeper has it please post it!!

They are just messengers.....we elected them to stay in Washington D.C. to do the work for the United States and to carry on the government of the state they represent....we did not give them permission to get involved in other parts of the government that have no importance to them....
If they can't stay in the United States and represent their state, then vote them out of office and get someone that knows what their jobs are....

He has NO RIGHT usurping our president in this matter by taking matters into his own hands concerning international issues!!!
