Japanese whalers are expected to face the most powerful anti-whaling protest ship they have ever seen when they try to kill up to 1000 whales south of New Zealand this summer
The Leviathan - a converted US Coast Guard ship was recently bought by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and its leader Paul Watson, who has boasted of ramming whalers to stop them.
The 61m ship has a top speed of 17 knots, enough to run down the Japanese whalers and the Leviathan crew won't be simply waving banners and trying to get in the way, the Sun Herald newspaper in Sydney reported.
Captain Watson has sunk 10 ships in his 27-year crusade to save the leviathans of the sea.

These are pirates. The Japanese would be within their rights to sink them all. One sub is all it would take.
,,, does international law say anything about the use of a ship to sabotage/sink another ship? Maybe he could be summed up as a terrorist. I wonder what flag Watson's ship will be sailing under.
Sounds like Watson needs to go down with his ship. How does he get away with sinking ships?
This terrorist needs a good torpedoing.
"Leviathan". Humph. Whatever happened to "peace, love and understanding"?
until that happens, ramming ships and killing humans is bad too!!
I am an ex-Squid and there are a very serious set of rules and regulations concerning the safe navigation and responsibility of ships at sea and I can't beleive any harbor would let this guy sail.
And failing all that, there is the one golden rule of the sea....
it is called the rule of good seamanship....
it means, even if the other a-hole is going to hit you... turn away....
You are required to be cool.
Even during war, we were better than others....
the US Navy would try like hell to sink you and then we would stop and pick up survivors.
It is an ancient custom and worthy of respect which that asshole is not.
Besides, tell him to look up the history of the first Leviathan.........................
"Article 101 of the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS):
Piracy consists of any of the following acts:
(a)any illegal acts of violence or detention, or any act of depredation, committed for private ends by the crew or the passengers of a private ship or a private aircraft, and directed:
(i)on the high seas, against another ship or aircraft, or against persons or property on board such ship
or aircraft;
(ii)against a ship, aircraft, persons or property in a place outside the jurisdiction of any State;
(b)any act of voluntary participation in the operation of a ship or of an aircraft with knowledge of facts
making it a pirate ship or aircraft;
(c)any act inciting or of intentionally facilitating an act described in sub-paragraph (a) or (b).
Drape the yard arm with their rotting carcasses,however,if that is considered an inadequate punishment under the terms of UNCLOS then make them watch "Pirates of the Caribbean" eight times a day for life.
,,, thanx for posting that.
Yes...with terrorists of their own (And no, I'm not aGreenpeace member or advocate before you ask, I simply acknowlegde that some tactics are inappropriate.
Attention Japan: It's called steak. Comes from cows. Look into it.
Cruel and unususal punishment, imo.
Just sink them and feed the fishies.
Well kid, why are you still eating cattle? Same reason they eat whales. Besides, have you ever seen the cost of beef in Japan?
Asians eat all types of weird stuff. Heck they eat tiger balls.
No thanks. New York Strip, medium rare, please.
Sea Shepherd is currently based in Friday Harbor, Washington, in the United States
It's called 'rangeland'. The Japanese don't have any.
Check it out.

127 million people would disagree with you. Also don't confuse whale meat with blubber.
