If they aren't going to be conservative, there's no real point to their existence if you can get the real thing in a Democrat. Then they will cease to exist. Bringing in some moderates to make the GOP shine in preparation for the big races may make sense.

The Republican party has as much of a future in NY state, as it has in Massachusetts or California.
It's over for them, sadly.
Too bad, because [apart from Poughkeepsie south], New York is a beautiful state. But politcally, for us, it's gone.
Republicans may never have a say there again.
