US and Iraqi forces have killed or captured at least 7,000 Al-Qaeda fighters in the past two years, with 30 "senior leaders' taken out of action since July.
The news comes hard on the heels of a leaked US Marine report that states US forces cannot defeat the Al-Qaeda-led insurgency in the vast western desert province of Al-Anbar.
"Since October 2004, we have now killed or captured over 7,000 Al-Qaeda terrorists," coalition spokesman Major General William Caldwell told journalists on Tuesday.

I would suspect the number is actually higher as it probably does not accurately predict those who were wounded and later died.

This report by AFP sounds very familiar. Hasn't this story been posted before, say, several weeks ago? I think the USMC report it refers to was leaked before the election. Yes?

It would have been irresponsible of AFP to post good news towards their readership, so they had to inluce this... They just HAVE to assure you over and over that they are traitors... NO wait! They are French after all!

I guess you didn't read the article. Had you read it you would realize that the Washington Post published some details of a classified report in order to undermine the war.
Caldwell was attempting to straighten out that attempt.
Can you offer a link to that USMC report. I can't find one.
