Is this a Fox News Alert or something?
yes
A former employee of the El Nuevo Herald, the Miami Herald's Spanish-language daily newspaper, is inside the One Herald Plaza building in downtown Miami with with a machine gun, according to news reports.

Varela was reported to be inside Humberto Castello's office. Castello is executive editor of the Spanish paper.
Varela was reportedly fired last February.
Thanks for the update.
Hope it ends peacefully.
I doubt it (macine gun) but he will be unopposed as most newsies are gun hating lefties.
The Miami Herald website states it is a handgun.
Mr. Varela is a well known and active member of the Cuban Exile community.
And people (sheeple) think newsies can explain the complicated stuff when they can't even get the easy stuff correct!
OOPS! should have been posted to debg.
Yeah, right. Probably a starter's pistol.
GEEEEZ , Why couldn't he have choosen the N Y Times ? ? ?
I figured that out ;)
Varela apparently took over his [the editor's] office and trashed it, including a cartoon of the executive editor that Varela had drawn.
The beauty of "gun-free" zones is all you have to do is claim to have a gun and you can take control.
Ping!!!!!!!!!
Ping!!!!!!!!!
Did they accidently publish an article supporting conservatism?
Hmm, wonder what kind of articles he would publish?
Unless someone claims to have a .50 Browning machine gun, and he/she will dispute your taking control.
I don't know, I've fired one of those babies (just once) and I recall them being fairly large and not easy to conceal. No one has ever asked me, "Is that a Browning .50 cal in your pants, or are you just happy to see me?" LOL!
