Wash down the pie! lol.
LOL
I got side tracked....Damn phone just won't let up!
LOL
I have to run myself. I have 3 weeks to renovate my living room--drywall, new floor, lighting, and paint, among other stuff on my honey-do list.
Have fun all, and don't let the trolls bite!
Catch you later!
I love that womans story.
Did I send you the fmail re: reporter calling the newspaper inquiring about Gam's assassination before it took place?
Thanks! Haven't seen them since '69 at Hillary's Wellesley commencement speech.
;-)
I found the reference to the effing the lamb in a barn in the thanksgiving broadcast. I got it as the 3rd hour instead of the first.
If anyone that is 24/7 member and you want to listen it, it is in the 3rd hr about 3 minutes in.
I can't believe anyone would agree that this was any kind of suitable topic for family listening.
Thank you very much for doing some investigation. It is very helpful to clarify things.
As I wrote on Thanksgiving, "My family and my wife's family are all together here for Thanksgiving, about 30 people in all" -- four generations, many older people and many younger ones. We have a small nursery here on the acreage, and some of the children were fooling around among the young pines and spruces. There are radios all over the place where it's easy to hear talkshows all day throughout the week. The radio was on the station for the Rush show as it is every day.
Well it was Thanksgiving and it was presumed that, if Rush were on, he would most likely put on a compilation of stories about The Real Thanksgiving (http://freedomkeys.com/thanksgiving.htm), patriotism, or the essential part of religion in the original settlers, things like that. But, here in my city Rush's show chose to LEAD with the story about a guy dragging a lamb into a barn and having sex with it. It was astonishing to say the least. He even included some detail of some strange tool the "rapists" make (a long stick with a mirror on the end) for the "rapist" to see if the sheep is smiling during the sex. Unreal.
To be honest, if I were one of those liberal columnists who do not like Rush, and I heard about that show I sure would lean toward writing a column directed at Rush's (or Rush's people's) lamentable decision to air such a sick story on Thanksgiving Day, which in reality should be a very spiritual day.
And, for all the "Rush apologists" here on FR to not find this very inappropriate is unbelievable. And for these same people to attack someone who notices this very inappropriate show is just as unbelievable.
****
p.s. Rush's second story on the Thanksgiving Day show was about condoms.
Perfect.
You can add me to the list of people that became outraged at Rush's choice of topics (whether on a holiday or on ANY day for that matter).
I'm a conservative because I believe in traditional family values and public decency. It's liberals that find such talk entertaining, not any conservatives I know.
Rush stepped over the line and I'd like to hear an apology from him WITHOUT his first insulting me as lacking a sense of humor or some other such obfuscation.
Beyond, you were justified in your criticism of Rush...and unfairly attacked here on the issue.
I'm disappointed about that.
Thank you for the thoughtful post. ( I don't know where you are, but if you're anywhere near me in the EST zone, you are up pretty early. ;-) )
Anyhow, two things -- that disgusting show was completely wrong for a Thanksgiving Day show. And secondly, thank you for kindly mentioning the unwarranted attacks here on pointing out this issue.
It seems no one cannot be critical of Rush on Rush threads. That sure does not fit conservative rules. Liberals are usually the ones who insist on shutting down dissent. But disagreement with anything Rush does or says on Rush threads seems to be a sacrilege of sorts here. That is more than wrong.
And the poster who continually talks behind my back calling me a troll needs to seriously grow up.

Let's face it. We conservatives are up against the ruthless old media. It's nearly impossible for us to prevail because of their continual lies and distortions. (Look how the old media played that trumped up Joe Wilson/Valerie Plame/Scooter Libby story for three years to damage this administration and Republicans in general -- the politics of corruption).
Because the old liberal media lies and distorts and is still extremely influential, our talkshow hosts/commentators need to be on their toes and be very, very careful with what they say and how they present subjects. The old media has and will distort nearly everything they say -- example, look what happened to Rush when he slightly foolishly approached the Michael J. Fox ads. He was totally correct on the facts, but he was very clumsy in bringing up that subject in the first place. Let's face it, no one is going to come out smelling like a rose attacking the very likable, Michael J. Fox.
Anyhow, my point is just one. We all need to ask out talkshow hosts/commentators to improve their skills. Because in the end, we NEED them to help us to bring more fellow citizens and voters over to our side on the issues. That is why I criticize some of out talkshow hosts at times. I just want them to be better. I want them to stop the continual sanctimoniousness, self-righteousness, and ridicule of the perceived opponents. That behavior will not serve us well in the end. Our talkshow hosts need to be less combative.
Mark Steyn took over for Rush one day. It was the greatest three hour of radio I ever heard in my life. Mark was brilliantly conservative, persuasive, a perfect gentleman, humorous and entirely pleasant. There was none of the continual ridicule and vitriol that Rush and Sean exhibit each and every day.
My only point is, and I feel that I know this for a fact, that if our spokesmen/talkshow hosts do not improve their performances some, we are NOT going to persuade enough people to come over to our side. And that is very sad for all of us and sad for this Republic!
I'm thinking ......... at least someone is going to be looking for another job.
But to the point. If you are considered a troll because you rightly criticized Rush over his tasteless and inappropriate comments on Thanksgiving Day, then I guess that makes me a troll too. Of course, that's silly.
The Conservative movement is not well served by the comments made by Rush or by conservatives ignoring his lapse in judgment in making those comments. I suggest we not follow the liberals descent into the gutter. I prefer the higher standards that conservatives usually hold.
So well said.
I live in the Hudson Valley of New York
God's Country ...... beautiful.
;-)
After this Thanksgiving Day "offering" from El Rushbo and crew, maybe he and his minions can have a Christmas Day show beginning with a story on child pornography then one on transvestite dating.
Might as well be consistent.
Guess I'm a prude and a troll also. I remember when Rush broadcast the lamb rape story and I was disgusted that he would get in the gutter with it.
As far as I'm concerned Rush is being disrespectful to his audience and it's time someone confronted him about it.
****
You're not at all a prude or a "troll". You are simply a decent human being.
But, if you wrote those sentiments down about the Rush Thanksgiving Day Show/sheep rape/and condoms in a Vanity thread here on FR, I'll bet Rush would hear about it.
I guess that I can't do it myself because I've been referred to as a "troll" about three dozen times on Rush threads.
****
By the way, what does a "troll" really mean here at FR.
