Wal-Mart Says It Will Not Make Corporate Contributions To Support Or Oppose Controversial Issues

altSend Wal-Mart a "Thank you" for its statement.

Dear Fred,

You have made a difference! Wal-Mart has announced they "will no longer make corporate contributions to support or oppose controversial issues unless they directly relate to their ability to serve their customers." AFA is pleased with this announcement.

Wal-Mart made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.

In response to Wal-Mart's statement, AFA has decided to cancel its efforts of encouraging people to not shop at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club this Friday and Saturday.

We believe that Wal-Mart will remain neutral in cultural battles.

Take Action

Please take a moment to send Wal-Mart a "Thank You" email for its policy statement.

Looks like Wal-mart felt the music. I still despise the corporate speak about diversity. What does one's sexuality have to do with diversity? My wife worked at a Wal-mart and one of the gay associates was always talking about his sex life and playing up the limp wristed stereotype. She'd relate statements that he had said that had he been normal he'd have been fired especially with some of the stuff he said in front of customers.

That aside, any store that goes out of its way to support controversial and counterculture ideas should realize that they are gaining nothing from it. They should focus on selling their goods and services and unless they are in the bathhouse business that shouldn't include pandering to homosexuals.

Censorship!!!!!!

Oh, no wait, it's a company choosing to instate a policy to keep customers from choosing not to shop there.

No one can be excellent and not offend somebody. So I'm gonna still boycott WalMart...and the hundred mile round trip and ferry toll. Screw WalMart. Buy Island! I moved here to get away from demotic marketing.

Just another slap in the face to the "Boycotts don't work" crowd.

You can "PR" this issue to death but the facts won't change. The public wont buy any "sanitized" paid endorser like Pat Boone or anyone else to buy your lies.

What in the world are you talking about? Did you mean to post to someone else instead? Who said anything about Pat Boone? I happened to make a point about people who say Boycotts do no good and you post this garbage?

Doesn't matter to me whether it's Walmart/Disney/Ford or the New York Times(Times Inc.)or a host of others. I just pointed out that Boycotts do work, no matter the cause or the business.

If you did post to me then I challenge you to find any post of mine on this board that ties me to the American Family Association. Let me know when you do.

Add: You might also add "Get Over Yourself" to my list of "to do's".

Would also suggest a nickname for you but "MadDog" is already taken.

What are you talking about? Did you randomly pick me to start some sort of argument with? Maybe you don't like some of my posts? Please stop with the harrasment.

Good job! They must have realized that this won't play with their standard customer profile.

Keep the profits and pay the stockholders a better dividend, instead of supporting sodomites!

You took something directed at the Walmart defenders as a personal attack directed at you. That is an error of judgement on your part.

You were not being singled out.

My comments that followed may have been "brisk" but were not "harrassment" as you claimed. It you are that sensitive perhaps some other forum would be better suited to your special needs.

Have a nice Thanksgiving.

It would be hard to justify a 100 mile round trip just to save a few dollars at any store! Go ahead and boycott them all you want ... they will not miss you ... not one bit.

What has changed? Walmart never intended on getting involved in controversy. They still hire diverse employees and they still cater to diverse customers. Of course they do the same for everybody else, too. They didn't back down they just put it in terms some boneheads could understand.

"You took something directed at the Walmart defenders as a personal attack directed at you. That is an error of judgement on your part."

If what you originally posted to me was directed at Walmart defenders(of which I am not), then please excuse my post, but this is what you wrote to me, not the poster of this thread, but me.

You can "PR" this issue to death but the facts won't change. The public wont buy any "sanitized" paid endorser like Pat Boone or anyone else to buy your lies.

Then this,

Add: You might also add "Get Over Yourself" to my list of "to do's".

Would also suggest a nickname for you but "MadDog" is already taken.

How else was I supposed to take it? If you meant what you said as against Walmart supporters why didn't you say that in your second post to me instead of going the "Mad Dog" route?

It is not me who had the error of judgement here, I was posting to someone who I thought was posting something against me, all you had to do was tell me your post was directed at walmart supporters and not me, instead you posted your above remark.

Does everyone realize that homosexuals will not claim pro-marriage or any other conservatvie cause is "controversial"?

Supporting adoption in lie of abortion is "controversial".

Supporting the boy scouts is "controversial" because they don't admit homosexuals.

Supporting soldiers is "controversial" to the anti-war people.

How about supporting the minutmen?

Will La Raza get Wal Mart support?

The anti-war people will oppose support for the military.

unless they are in the bathhouse business

Or in the boots business. If you go shopping for boots online you quickly find out that they quietly tailor a good deal of their marketing plan to perverts. hotboots.com
