WASHINGTON, Nov. 22, 2006 -- The Iraqi military is making progress in assuming the security mission in the country, but whether U.S. public opinion will allow the U.S. military to complete the training mission in Iraq is the real question, the Marine Corps commandant said here today.
Gen. James T. Conway held a roundtable discussion with the Pentagon press corps. |
I'm not proud being part of a country that allowed "stay the course" to somehow become a negative concept. Let's start teaching our kids to "just give up."
Quote " This doesnt happen overnight, he said. Your progress is incremental.
Youll have setbacks, but you keep your shoulder to the wheel and you keep pushing.
Thats the attitude of the Marines out there. They are encouraged by the micro-successes they see,
the relationships they build and the people they see step forward who want to fight for their own country. " end quote.
This is sad news,
in that so many people were fooled into voting Democrat,
thinking it would end the war.
Thank you Troops for your continued efforts to,
" keep your shoulder to the wheel and you keep pushing ".
I hope for a miracle, though, more likely,
we are all going to have to keep pushing.
I hope elected Democrats will understand that,
and soon, show they support the work
Troops have done for all of America,
and the free world.
Was it wasted? Or was the foundation layed.
Conway said he regards the battles in Afghanistan and Iraq as the first battles of the war on terror. He said it is important to win these battles.
Think Cold War, and it's 1952.
