I would say that Charles Steinmetz may have been more interested in transmission, but Tesla provided the brainpower to harness the rotating magnetic field.

Tesla was less of a businessman, and more of a thinker. See all of his patents, and concepts (including his lead in radio over Marconi), and relize that a super genius died penniless.
