Jealousy Believed Motive For Killing Of Former Tulane Star (New Orleans)

Even though he was focused on making a better life for himself, Brandon Spincer always made time for kids.

The former Tulane University football star worked with the children of Boys and Girls Town. He doled out his tickets to home football games to youngsters from troubled neighborhoods.

And in the end, it would be his adopted families at Tulane and St. Augustine High School that would rally around his parents, his two children and other relatives after Spincer, 24, was cut down in a jealous rage Monday night.

Authorities said Steve Adams, 25, of Algiers ambushed Spincer, killing him in one of two violent episodes that would leave another man dead and push Jefferson Parish’s murder rate to an all-time high.

Terry Casimir, 41, of Kenner, also was killed in a separate shooting in Harvey that left a woman wounded. Casimir received multiple gunshot wounds to the body after the occupants of another vehicle pulled alongside his SUV and opened fire in the 3000 block of Tallow Tree lane at about 6:30 p.m.

The tally left Jefferson with a record 53 killings in 2006, its highest number in 30 years, with the West Bank alone accounting for 36. Last year, Jefferson Parish only recorded 29 murders.

While Sheriff Harry Lee didn’t release many details about Monday’s two shootings, he said that he is taking an “extreme” approach to handling violence, including traffic and pedestrian stops, video surveillance on loiterers and increased patrols in high crime neighborhoods.

“I fully understand that the things I have to do are not going to be universally accepted, but I don’t give a damn,” Lee said.

Authorities reiterated that most of the violent crimes in Jefferson have been associated with turf wars over the drug trade. But Spincer’s death was out of envy.

Looks like the New Orleans violence has moved out to the suburbs of Jefferson and St. Tammany Parish.

"What's the law in LA re: concealed carry?"

Here are the laws pertaining to guns in Louisiana. I can't say for certain that all of the information is correct. If this site, (done by the Brady group) is to be believed, things are rather wide open on many counts.
