NO END TO DEM CIVIL WAR
The New York Post ^ | NOVEMBER 20, 2006 | By DICK MORRIS & EILEEN MCGANN

Posted on 11/20/2006 8:15:31 AM PST by PDR

FLUSH with victory, the Democratic Party is celebrating its return to power by loudly and publicly tearing itself to pieces. Anyone who wondered if House Democrats would be as reliable as the Republicans in supporting their leaders had only to watch the leadership fight between Reps. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and John Murtha (D-Pa.): Democrats still form their firing squads in a circle.

SNIP...

The larger Democratic war pits the New Left against the New Democrats. Brought to power in Clinton's administration, the centrist New Democrats are determined to keep the party in the middle on national issues. The New Left wants to drag it way over to the liberal side. The battle will not abate, much less end, until the party has a presidential candidate.

So the early primaries will be in the nature of a quarter-final for the Democrats to narrow the field down to one candidate for the New Left and another for the New Democrats. Then the two will face each other in the semi-final, which will be held in the second wave of primary states. The left will choose ex-Veep Al Gore or Sen. John Kerry or Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.). The New Democrats will pick either Hillary, former veep candidate John Edwards or Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.).

Illinois Sen. Barack Obama is a wild card. Where will he position himself? His rhetoric is conciliatory but Hil- lary has the center covered . . .

Until the 2008 primaries settle things, this Democratic soap opera of left vs. center will dominate our political dialogue.

I find this amusing.

The democrat "center" are socialists

The democrat "left" are communists

And if you don't know the difference look it up.

The democrat "center" are socialists The democrat "left" are communists And if you don't know the difference look it up.

This reminds me of the one amusing anecdote from Jesse Ventura's autobiography. He called someone a "communist" on the radio, and the politician demanded an apology. So he said he looked up the terms "communist" and "socialist". He gave the meanings of the two, and then apologized. "He's not a communist. He's a socialist."

The threatened slander suit, after a brief uproar, quietly went away.

But the old guard is the new left.... Gingrich used to say the reason everything on the left was "new" every two years was that the voters figured out the old ones every time.

What an arrogant thing to say. What makes you think people reading this would not know the difference between Socialists and Communists?

Do you know which incoming Freshman Senator is a Socialist?

What? You want him to quit his job?

I like how he paints Ms Clinton as a new democ rat! The lady (and I use that term loosely) who almost gave us socialized health care? The lady who doesn't care that her husband was accused of rape? The lady who can hardly remember a damned thing when giving testimony??????

Let us hope our strategists are paying close attention and devise plans and policies to exploit these fractures and differences between their extremists and moderates.

She will be herding cats for two years, and the dog and pony show will do nothing but help Republicans in two years. Who says losing can't be fun? It brings politicians back to the base out of necessity, and brings forth wonderful CONSERVATIVE IDEAS for the election in two years. As an example, look at Pence since the election concerning his views on shamnesty. Intra party fighting ceased on election day for Republicans, and this as a Party we do very well.

Dick Morris SUPPORTS that agenda. In FahrenHYPE 911 he says that he was endorsing Bush for re-election in 2004 because of the war on terror, that for all other issues he was in line with the DNC.
