John Edwards and Wal-Mart: Playstation Before Principle
MensNewsDaily ^ | 11-17-06 | Doug Powers

Former Senator and John Kerry running mate John Edwards hates Wal-Mart. He says they're unfair to their labor and generally a stain on America.

But they also have lots of Playstation 3's at reasonable prices! What to do?

What you do is try and get one at Wal-Mart and then blame a young staffer for the blunder, which is exactly what happened.

The funniest part is that only the day before, Edwards spoke to an anti Wal-Mart group:

[Edwards] spoke Wednesday to supporters of union-backed WakeUpWalMart.com on a conference call launching the group's holiday season campaign to pressure Wal-Mart for better labor standards.

In the call, he repeated a story about his son Jack disapproving of a classmate buying sneakers at Wal-Mart. "If a 6-year-old can figure it out, America can definitely figure this out," Edwards said.

I also hear that Edwards asked the crowd to raise their hands and scream "yes" if they believe Wal-Mart is unfair to labor, and/or if they've ever suffered a neck injury from a passenger-side airbag.

But John Edwards isn't alone in his quest for Wal-Mart hypocrisy and irony.

Among the others who consistently chastise Wal-Mart for "not providing affordable health care" is one of the reasons health care costs so much: Ted Kennedy. Sen. Kennedy even wrote something called "The Ten Commandments for Wal-Mart."

Kennedy has spent an inordinate amount of his life violating any number of the actual Ten Commandments, along with eliminating biblical principles from public debate, and all of a sudden he stumbles down from the mountaintop carrying a stone tablet like some kind of gin-blossomed Wal-Mart Moses?

There are others.

Last summer, in Henderson, Nev., a labor union hired some temporary workers to picket outside a Wal-Mart. The picketers were hired to walk outside the store and protest the low wages, lack of benefits, and lousy working conditions Wal-Mart provides to its employees.

Oh, one more thing. The union who hired the picketers paid them less than the starting wage Wal-Mart pays, gave them no benefits, and made them picket in 104-degree heat. All to protest the low wages, zero benefits, and lousy working conditions inside the air conditioned store.

The issue of wages brings us back full circle to the Edwards story: His "staffer" was a volunteer! Who is John Edwards to talk about low wages? You can't get much lower than an ultra-wealthy man who has people working for him for free -- and you've got him trying to track down a Playstation 3 for your kid no less?

Life would really suck without accidental comedians.

I can't believe a man who wants to be president thinks it is a good idea to say that he and his wife never shop at Wal-Mart.

The harder he tries to look like one of us 'little people' the larger the letters on his forehead get:

"LIMOUSINE LIBERAL"

Yep. One thing I notice about Wal-Mart is that you see a great many of our "seasoned citizens" and others that the mainstream market would cast aside as not employable.

Full-time employees at Wal-Mart ARE offered health care and benefits, I believe - at least that seems to be the gist of comments they write. I imagine part-time employees are not offered benefits - which is near as I can tell the norm for most stores. I don't recall being offered health care when I was a part-timer at a Department Store.

And as far as NOT paying people overtime, etc. - Congress should take a long, long, hard look in those 30-story office buildings.

Not only that, he says his 6-year old kid wouldn't shop at Walmart.

Truly, a "man of the people"...

Too funny!

Imagine a comedy skit with Kerry and Edwards playing it. Lots of comic ideas there.

But it will never happen, as most of the comedy shows are left-leaning . . .

"In the call, he repeated a story about his son Jack disapproving of a classmate buying sneakers at Wal-Mart."

If that is something this man is proud of, he is a worthless piece of crap. Picking on some kid because his parents bought his shoes at Wal-Mart all with the support of millionaire daddy. What a vile, disgusting person.

Dear EX-Senator and EX-Presidential Campaign LOSER,

Nobody puts a gun to the heads of Wal-Mart employees to FORCE them work there. They can leave anytime they wish......

Not only does he say he never shops at WalMart, but he thinks it's just great that his son criticized a classmate for having shoes from there. What an elitist buffoon. Note to John Edwards: not every kid has a dad who made megabucks chasing ambulances.

Besides, I'd love to know what brand of sneakers his kids wear. Almost all of them come from China, including the ones in the high-end department stores the Edwards must frequent.

Wal-Mart Hits Teens with Gay Porn How-To Manual

By Gudrun Schultz

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario, November 15, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - A graphic sex-ed manual promoting lesbianism to teenage girls is now offered for sale by Wal-Mart in the United States. Called "irresponsible and obscene" and by the Institute for Canadian Values, the material contains explicit directions for engaging in oral/anal sexual acts. The book encourages same-sex experimentation, telling girls that only 10 percent of the population is actually heterosexual, while 80 percent is "mixed" or bi-sexual.

Produced by St. Stephens' Community House in Toronto, the book titled "The Little Black Book for Girlz: A Book on Healthy Sexuality" caused a storm of controversy earlier this fall when parents and pro-family groups first became aware of the books' content after it was published in September.

The manual was further condemned for using obscene and derogatory language. Examples include a section entitled "My First Time F***ing a Girl" and the statement "If you need someone to represent God The Holiness, then for me, it's a fat black dyke."

The manual contains misleading and dangerous information on "safe" sex devises, assuring teenagers that condom use is 100 percent effective in preventing the transmission of disease. That statement contradicts the World Health Organization's recent admission that condom use fails to protect against HIV/AIDS transmission up to 20 percent of the time, crucial information missing from the manual.

Another section on "safe" lesbian sex acts, entitled "How to use a dental dam," encourages girls to engage in such dangerous behaviour as sewing latex squares used in dentistry into the crotch of their underwear "for added fun."

Wal-Mart says the book, sold for $8.50, is "a great mix of real-life examples and life-saving info."

Advertising the manual as "not just a book about sex, but a look at girl culture by teenagers," the book is praised as "No stuffy school textbook," with "No nosy adults" involved.

"It's all stuff that youth need to know…The Little Black Book for Girlz is an important, take--anywhere empowerment guide. Girls shouldn't leave their teen years without it."

Wal-Mart recently joined the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, which celebrated the involvement of the corporation as "part of the company's ongoing commitment to advancing diversity among all of its associate, supplier and customer bases."

The company contributed $60,000 in 2006 to the activist group Out & Equal, an organization dedicated to promoting the homosexual lifestyle, including same-sex marriage, in the workplace. Wal-Mart ran a full-page ad in the Out & Equal 2006 Workplace Summit Program Guide stating the company's commitment to supporting the goals of the Out & Equal Summit.

In 2005, Human Rights Campaign, the largest homosexual activist lobby organization in the U.S., applauded Wal-Mart for adopting a new definition of family that included same-sex partners, where recognized under state law.

Edwards apparently paid one of his staffers to stand in line for his kid's PS3.

In the first place, what a pretentious prick for having one of his employees do that, not for him, but for his equally pretentious kid (and what a "suck-up" sycophant his staffer must be for doing it).

In the second place, one has to wonder; did we, the taxpayers actually pay his staffer to stand in that line?

But all we heard from John Edwards throughout the last election was "My daddy worked in a mill .... my daddy worked in a mill ... my daddy worked in a mill", that is whenever he could get a word in edgewise with Jon Carry telling us "I served in Vietnam."

He is not an elected official, he lost the election. He can hire staff for anything he wants on his own dime.

My question is what kind of a reception did his pretentious kid get in school today? Poor kid, with the breck buffoon for a daddy he must be paying today.

One guess where little Jack got his views on Wal-Mart:
he repeated a story about his son Jack disapproving of a classmate buying sneakers at Wal-Mart. "If a 6-year-old can figure it out, America can definitely figure this out," Edwards said.
