Giuliani Takes Steps to Prep for Presidential Bid in 2008
WASHINGTON Former New York City mayor , a moderate Republican best known for his stewardship of the city after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, has taken the first step in a 2008 presidential bid, GOP officials said Monday.
The former mayor filed papers to create the , creating a panel that would allow him to raise money for a White House run and travel the country.
Thank you. If it's a sincere statement predictive of the future, it's a stark improvement over where he has been on this issue in the past.
Love the way you think. I agree 100%. We had too many states in 2004 with very narrow numbers and we cannot afford to have that happen in 2008 or we lose. We have got to reach out -- want a fiscal conservative as my President who is tough on criminals, terrorists and supports defense and closed borders along with strict constitutionalist judges. Send social issues back to the State out of Congress period!
I have no problem with TWO Italina-Americans! Guiliani-Tancredo 2008! :) (I put Guiliani in the Presidential positian because he is much more likely to get the nomination and is well-liked by Americans....most of whom have no clue who Tom Tancredo is). I like them BOTH.
I'm from NY and lived and worked in NYC from '98 - 2002. I always liked Rudy and respected his guts and no-bs attitude. He made NYC a better place to live and work and he truly was an insipration on and following 9/11. And I liked him before he became "America's Mayor"...
Tancredo is tough on immigration and terrorism. He "gets it". The two would be an excellent choice for the GOP ticket in 2008 IMHO.
Very well stated! Thank you!
I have heard quite few folks, some here, some on talk radio, claim that Mormons are not Christians and so they could not possibly vote for them.
That of course is not true of all christians, but I do feel his religion could be stumbling block for some evangelicals.
(I do not use the term "far right" as a derogatory term, simply as an adjective.)
I will under no circumstances vote for a liberal for president; that includes Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, and of course Hillary.
Rudy also did something to Castro. I don't recall what it was, do you?
And the thing is-- if the DNC is wasting money defending Hillary in New York, that is less money aimed at sliming Congressional conservatives running in more conservative parts of the country.
Some would rather go down with a big principled YEEEEAGH instead playing to win, though.
Thanks. I've decided that hand-wringing over Rudy now is counterproductive.
Amen.. I won't be able to support a social liberal ever... The slippery slope is happening as we speak... Now there are calls from liberals in the UK to abort babies after they are born.. What do you think I'm kidding?

NOTE: The Press wants to try and put a Christian face on the issue by getting this warped Bishop to speak out but the bottom line is the Liberal group Nuffield Council in fact started the inquiry. "The inquiry, by the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, began two years ago and its findings are due to be published in London"
Whats next... Clones for our conve
How could any conservative object to a pro-abortion pro-gay anti-gun finger-in-the-wind politician like Romney?!?!?
Rudy is a law and order guy. I have a feeling he will sweep into office once we have our first homegrown hezboolah/hamas suicide bomber on the Metro Link.
I agree! I don't get these so-called conservatives that want the federal government involved in social issues -- I want the Feds out!
Ivory and Ebony. Makes a nice piana.
Exactly and why I am now supporting Rudy as someone who will stand up. That's my #1 priority -- defense of this Nation or nothing else will matter!
I am ready to keep repeating it over and over again! :)
" Any suggestions?"
As a matter of fact I do!
See my tagline..
So vote against him in the primary then. If I don't like what I see I will too.
Why worry about this now? It's WAAAY too early. We just finished the mid-term; what's next, when 2008 rolls around everyone is going to worry about 2010? Why don't we just hold elections every year?
My pro-life views extend to those of us that fly in airplanes, ride buses and hope to go about our daily lives without getting blown up.
