AL-QAEDA in Iraq yesterday claimed to be winning the war in Iraq and gloated over the resignation of US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.
Amid mounting speculation that the American ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, would become the latest casualty following criticism over US policy in Iraq, al-Qaeda issued a statement clearly designed to take advantage of President George Bush's current plight.
Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, also known as Abu Ayyub al-Masri, said: "The American people have put their feet on the right path by ... realising their president's betrayal in supporting Israel. So they voted for something reasonable in the last elections," he said.
He called on Mr Bush to remain "steadfast in the battlefield" so al-Qaeda would have more opportunities to fight his soldiers. "They are getting ready to leave, because they are no longer capable of staying. Remain steadfast in the battlefield you coward."
The US yesterday announced the deaths of three soldiers and one Marine in Iraq, bringing the number of US troops killed this month to 24.

Ping!
I lay all of this at the door of our mainstream media and our self-serving excuses for politicians.
If right were done, we would put our combat troops in Congress, and send the congressmen to Iraq to fight,
Of course, then our government would be a success and our combat missions a failure.
I guess there just aren't enough good men to go around. In Iraq, over 99% of our troops are good men; in Washington over 99% of our men (and women) are Trojan horses of the enemy. We're in trouble
Looks like the Liberals have won the war on terror...
The animals are running the zoo. It is as if Evil is having a field day.
The people in America who voted Democrat or Libertarian should be ashamed (but they are not).
The propagandists in the media who relentlessly spewed out their bildge should be ashamed (but they are not).
When Kerry lost 2 years ago, Liberals went into therapy (as reported by the New York Times and Newsweek).
I prayed to God.
MadIvan,
I think I met you in NYC, did you eat dry salmon a few years ago in a Tavern in an area called downtown or Wall Street?
So they voted for something reasonable in the last elections," .......Don't tell me what I voted for you, you towel headed goat humper. (Not you, MI)
It was pretty long odds to begin with...31 Million DemonRats against one 74-year old man...

Can't lay Rumsfeld at the feet of the dems. His departure was in the works long before the election according to the President.
Regards, Ivan
The President said he didn't want to inject the departure into the election.
As for the terrorists, we'd be in sad shape if we began shaping our politics or even perception to suit them.
Of course they can't win. I don't think them ever "winning" was in question. The thing we're doing is minimizing the harm they can do. And we'll continue doing that without Rumsfeld.
I like what Halsey wrote on the Island for the pilots to see...substitute the barbarian fanatics d'jour
I 'be been watching liberal reaction to the terrorist tape. Liberals are doing exactly as I expected and ignoring it. Typical children who can't cope so they pretend it doesn't exist.
I'm glad I live in the sticks and don't make much of a target.
Hey brother, fish aint meat.

You don't want to hand them any propaganda victories. If Bush had waited a few weeks, that would have been better. After Christmas would have been preferable.

I don't worry that much about propaganda. I worry about quantifiable effectiveness.
