Googled the data.
House Leadership
Speaker of the House - $212,100
Majority Leader - $183,500
Minority Leader - $183,500
Rank and file $165,200.

"The amount of a Congressperson's pension depends on the years of service and the average of the highest 3 years of his or her salary. By law, the starting amount of a Member's retirement annuity may not exceed 80% of his or her final salary"

So resigning doesn't make him a nickel. costs money. Person who made up this is a liar.

Hastert's been in Congress about 20 years, so he's probably maxed out perecentage-wise.

80% of $212,000 is significantly more than 80% of 165,000; like on the order of $37,600 per year.

I don't know, the way I read that, if he resigns now his starting retirement annuity could be up to $169,680 ($212K * .80) instead of "only" $132,160 (165K * .80). So, he would stand to benefit by resigning now. In any case, congressmen have set themselves up pretty nicely for retirement...living out their golden years on the public trough.
