Q Thank you, Mr. President. On immigration, many Democrats had more positive things to say about your comprehensive proposal than many Republicans did. Do you think a Democratic Congress gives you a better shot at comprehensive immigration reform?
THE PRESIDENT: You know, I should have brought this up. I do. I think we have a good chance. Thank you. It's an important issue and I hope we can get something done on it. I meant to put that in my list of things that we need to get done.
Very troubling.

Rush was commenting on this, something like it's going to get worse before it gets better. I think Rush is right.

Q Thank you, Mr. President. On immigration, many Democrats had more positive things to say about your comprehensive proposal than many Republicans did. Do you think a Democratic Congress gives you a better shot at comprehensive immigration reform? That questioner needs to get up to date on the latest code words: The xenophobic nativist conservative base has caught on to the phrase "Comprehensive Immigration Reform".
The base is wise to the fact that it means amnesty, and whenever amnesty for illegals comes up there is hell to pay for the GOP. And we can't have any more of that!
So the new code word for "amnesty" is "Regularization". The new strategy is "Give the hicks the fence they want, and once the fence gets built we ram "Regularization" through.
Before those hayseed voters know what's coming amnesty will be a done deal, and we can go back to winning elections by scaring them with how evil the Democrats will be- tell them that if the Democrats win them there will be amnesty for illegal aliens. Lol! God, I love politics.
