Named one of the most vulnerable Republican members of Congress in this election... Gerlach defeated the odds. Here are the latest numbers.. 51- to 49-percent- just 3-thousand votes separating the two candidates. ...Today- Murphy has shied away from the media... but Gerlach says she did call his office this afternoon to concede.

This race is significant because (1) Jim Gerlach (R) was projected to lose to Lois Murphy (MoveOn.org Democrat)

(2) The Gerlach campaign was, as far as I know, the only one to have followed my advice to use MoveOn.org's record of welcoming hate speech at its Action Forum to damage his MoveOn-backed opponent.

The Daily Kos was in fact bleating about Gerlach using my material, as shown here. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/10/27/162356/97

"Guilt by association seems a favorite tactic of Gerlach as he labels Murphy a radical based on her support from groups including MoveOn.org."

And it worked, noting that Murphy's problem was not that MoveOn.org supported her. Her problem was her refusal to reject its support.

When your enemies scream and whine about how what you are doing is horrible and unfair, it means you are doing your job. It seems that I did mine in at least one Congressional race, although the failure of other Republicans to exploit this opportunity (particularly Santorum) resulted in their defeats. I am in fact grateful to the Daily Kos for affirming my role in demolishing at least one MoveOn.org Democrat.

One small piece of good news from the election. Watch the Dem. claim vote fraud.

That's a big one. She was left wing all the way, and I think the media had declared her the winner.

Of course I couldnt follow all the campaigns from around the country but I don't think Repubs used this tactic to their advantage enough. They should have linked their opponents to far left defeatists and America bashers. Not to mention staying on *offense* when it came to Iraq and terror. Maybe they would have done a little better using that strategy. Just my 2 cents.

Yes. And Shays was the only one to fire back hard when they tried to ring Folely around his neck and he won.

Sad thing is we managed to save several of the most endangered, and then lost a bunch of "safe" seats, sometimes with people who had money in the bank they were saving to discourage challenges in the future, or to use for political payoffs to gain better positions.

Drake's campaign hung MoveOn around Kellum's neck in VA-2, and she pulled it out as well.

Good news. Gerlach is my Congressman. I thought he would win, although it was closer than it should have been. Murphy is a liberal abortion lawyer who he beat last time.

His district is in Chester County and Berks County, which used to be very, very Republican. But we are seeing a lot of liberals move into this area from Philly and adjoining suburbs. It would have been especially bad (to me, at least) if he would have lost. And embarassing, to have a lib representing this mostly conservative district.

Murphy ran some lying ads about pay raises and body armor votes and she was forced to pull them, but it was 2 or 3 weeks out from the election and damage got done.

Gerlach and Shays both ran against the tide because the dems ran in two consecutive elections backward candidates.

The voters sent a message we didn't like them the first time. Lois Murphy and Farrell couldn't do better than they did in 04 with a much better enviornment which shows you how bad they were as candidates.

My E-mail records show that I sent information about MoveOn.org's hate speech to both Shays and Drake. I can't see anything to the effect that they used it as Gerlach did, though. Do you know if Shays or Drake tried to connect their opponents to MoveOn's hate speech?

I worked for Jim on the ground ( 72 HOUR PUSH ) and I was crushed when FOX said he was gone. In the AM I jumped for joy at the turn around. I gave four days of my life for him and it paid off. I'm glad the you swayed Shays and Drake. In my area Pete King went all out even calling for profiling at airports and won comfortably. If there are any other winners that went all conservative all the time after being targets and declared likely losers, please let me know.

We will get those back on 08.

How ironic. This seat, everyone, was sure it was going to flip. Actually we held on to our Red Alert seats (Gerlach, Heather Wilson, Shays). It was the 2nd and 3rd tier seats that fell.

"..in his distance....and he lost win he was 'safe'" Perhaps you need to proofread before hitting the button..or not hit bottle before button.

I worked for Jim too. I will be attending his victory party tonight...

Everyone that I talked to here in Chester County couldn't stand Lois Murphy and her whining voice and her horrible ads.

I went to bed seeing the predictions but knew it was just like 2 years ago. So, I was comfortable knowing that Chester County hadn't reported in yet.

I did a web site for the Gerlach campaign also- it is at my tagline.
