Unbelievable... Tim Russert was on NBC talking about the new House leadership and one word he never used... liberal. That is one thing they are, if anything. Definitely a little bias there.

It wasn't so "brilliant": It's the standard schitzophrenia of the Democratic party. This, if you remember, was the party that embraced both MLK, Jr. and George Wallace.

Interesting. The Democrats are celebrating a victory and the MSM is saying the Democrats didn't win. Bush lost.

Kinda makes the whole "Democrat agenda" thing look like a booger.

You're right. This is exactly what I'm afraid of - a smiling Bush signing the Pelosi-Reid "Comprehensive Immigration" bill.

The Republicans refused to bring out the 9/11 videos. That cost them a lot of votes.

We need to get tough.

This is a victory for the terrorists. Prepare for more terrorist attacks in the U.S.

I hope not for many reasons, but one would be that Bush would seriously be villofied. To have two Terrorist attacks on his watch would be horrible. Please don't confuse the situation that the democrats would be blamed. I don't see that happening at all.

"The moonbats won't rest. They'll want to kick the ever-lovin' snot out of Bush for the next two years. Don't buy this bipartison crap. The want Bush bloodied and beatin' with investigations and hearings. It's the only way to grease the skids for Hillary in '08. Remember the "culture of curruption", well it worked for them in '06 what makes you think they won't use it in '08?"

You are right. If the Rats manage to get these investigations and hearings running and can create more dissatisfaction/disgust with the President, the calls of "Vote For Change" will be deafening in the media, ten times louder than they were for this election. This will pave the way for Hitlery's election as POTUS.

In the words of NYC mayor Ed Koch when he lost to David Dinkins in 1989..."The people have chosen, now the people will be punished."

And they were.

I think today's result increases the chance that we'll be able to hold om to the Whitehouse in '08.

Wish I shared your optimism, but I don't think these cycles move that fast. And we definitely got hit with a big one.

I held my nose through the Clinton years. I can do it again.

It's also a repudiation of everyone who has helped the U.S. over the last five years.

Too little, too late.

Now they will suffer.

I am with you. Clinton was not a leader but he was a great counter puncher. With a Republican Congress, Clinton had an enemy he could attack. I just don't see Bush having these skills. He is more of a leader and is not an effective counter puncher.

Bush's problem is that he is a lousy communicator. I say that as someone who voted for him twice and it is the truth.

We had the Senate and the House, but we didn't use the power and it was taken from us.

Abso-freakin'-lutely true!

Does anyone know thw date when the tax cuts expire?

That would be 2010. That's the first date at which, realistically, any federal tax could increase.

The tax cuts look like a sure bet to sunset then, even if Pubs gain some back in 2008. Dem strength in House and Senate will prevent making the 2001 cuts "permanent." That was in trouble already.

They could pass a law tomorrow ending the tax relief at the end of July 2007 and demand a retroactive payment back to 2001 at the start of the tax relief of moneys paid out.(precedent was set in 1993 and the courts okayed it). Never mind the deadline as to when the tax cuts were supposed to have ended, they can shorten that deadline legislatively...."for the good of us all"!

I wish people would stop using the phrase Lame Duck. The President can still do everything he could do yesterday. He just has less time to do it.

I blame GWB and Karl Rove for this mess. With this shamnesty that proved the GOP is just as weak as the Dems.
