A British terrorist affiliated with al-Qaeda planned to murder thousands of people in a series of attacks in Britain and the United States, a London court revealed Monday.

Dhiren Barot pleaded last month to conspiracy to commit murder. Monday, prior to the final verdict, the prosecution enumerated the intended crimes of the 34 year old, who converted to Islam over a decade ago and became increasingly extreme.

Barot planned to set off a 'dirty bomb' – explosives containing radioactive material – in the London underground, with the hope that the explosion would cause the Thames to flood the underground stations.

He also planned to pack gas cylinders in limousines and set them off in various underground parking lots in Britain. According to the prosecution, Barot flew to Pakistan in 2004 to prevent the limousine plan to senior terror operatives.

Underground parking lots would afford a confined airspace and boost casualties.

Same thing Aum Shinrikyou did in Tokyo in...95..?

A dirty bomb, a conventional explosive device laced with fine radioactive materials, would not have any more power than the explosives alone. Exploding such a device in the metro would not be very effective as the radioactive material would be fairly well contained and shielded by the tunnel itself. Far more effective to detonate such a device above ground where the winds would spread the radioactivity.

There is a BBC movie called the "The Dirty War" that gives a realistic and chilling picture of the havoc such a dirty bomb would wreak if exploded in metropolitan London.

Here's a story we need to flood the media with - Let's use the power/tools at our disposal and get it out there. On the heels of FOX showing "Obsession" several times over the weekend, it will remeind people that the jihardists aren't just after American repbublicans.

(Copy/paste list to your files for quick find in future)

Media emails – the formula: if they hear from 40 to 45 people on a story, they will cover it.
CAUTION: do not mass email - they won’t look at it – email singly- also : Short and sweet or they wont look at it! Include a link, if you have one.
