TEHRAN (AFP) - Iran is prepared to supply anti-aircraft weaponry to the Lebanese armed forces, its ambassador to Beirut has been quoted as saying. ADVERTISEMENT
"Iran is ready to supply modern anti-aircraft arms to Lebanon," said Iranian ambassador Mohammad Reza Sheibani after talks with Lebanon's army chief Michel Sleiman in Beirut late on Saturday.
The United States accuses Iran of supplying arms and financial support to its Hezbollah allies but Tehran vehemently denies the allegations.
Hezbollah fought a month-long war against Israel earlier this year that was marked by deadly Israeli airstrikes on targets in Lebanon but the Lebanese army largely stood on the sidelines.
The army has since said it was in market for anti-aircraft and anti-tank weaponry.
According to the state-run IRNA dispatch from Beirut Sunday, Sheibani also called on "Lebanese political groups to maintain their unity to foil plots" of Iran's arch-enemies Israel and the United States.
His comments came as Lebanese politicians were to return to roundtable talks on Monday to discuss a possible change of government amid threats to resort to the streets by both Hezbollah and the anti-Syrian parliamentary majority.
Meanwhile, Iran rejected claims by the United States that there was mounting evidence Iran, Syria and Hezbollah were preparing plans to topple the government of Lebanon.
"These are repetitive allegations and without foundation. Iran supports the independence, national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon," said foreign ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini.
its fine, they have the right to control the action
second, that means that lebanon will go hot again because the iranians have to know if their systems work before Israel does a fly by
also this will be interesting because, one has to wonder how will France and others get out if the area becomes hot again
crazines all around
good now we'll get to see what they have so we'll know when we leave Iraq through Iran
Doogle
What a coincidence. Israel is prepared to supply air to surface ordnance to Lebanon!
As my Daddy (God rest his soul) used to say, Iran needs a knot jerked in its tail.
If I may so bold, I recommend Israel follow the advice I've given before. First, warn Lebanon and Syria that the arrival of anti-air missiles would be a casus belli. Second, prepare to take out Syria's military infrastructure if the warning doesn't get heeded. In the last war, Israel should have destroyed Assad's ammo storage depots, his aircraft, his tanks, his artillery, his airports, and any infrastructure used to support Hezbollah. If war comes between Israel and Syria, and if Iran comes to Syria's aid as it is pledged to do by treaty, the US should begin strategic bombing that destroys Iran's nuclear facilities, its air force, navy, ammo depots, and it's tactical and strategic missile forces. This should be followed with a warning that any attacks by Iran into Iraq by regular forces will lead to the total destruction of the mad mullah's theocracy. This threat must be confronted now. The Iranain people are not able to topple the Iranain dictatorship. Their government is the source of terror in Iraq, Lebanon, and Israel. This is no time to be craven or follow the Democrats' philosophy of appeasement.

From one keyboard to another I like your plan and hope it's implemented ASAP.
BUMP!!
We must, right NOW, let Iran know in no uncertain words exactly what will happen.
The time for screwing around with these Islamofascists has passed. Read my tag.
I am convinced the average American doesn't have a clue. Somebody needs to tell the country what will REALLY happen if we cut and run in Iraq*.We need a little fright and a little panic right about now. Get out and vote "R" on Tuesday.
*IMHO, we'll have WMDs and/or dirty nukes in major American cities within a year or less. The Islamofascists are VERY determined to kill us. They literally believe the continuation of their civilization depends on it. Unfortunately we don't feel the same way about our civilization. Watch the movie "Obsession" if you don't believe me. Hear them say it.
