#565, a lot depends on what they both want, and their Health. Brit seems to be very energetic and robust as evidenced by his jump out of the Airplane not that long ago. I am not sure about Kim Hume, she is behind the scenes, and I do not know about her Health. She also is at the age where you want to think about spending time with your Grandchildren, and watch them grow. It could be a great enterprise and I cannot think of two People that could get it off the ground better, and oversee it for a few years, then kick back and let someone else highly qualified to manage it. They could do guest appearances or occasional stories and be semi-retired. Gee, I seem to be planning their life for them. I wish them well, but would hate to see them go away forever, they are very classy and quite an asset to any organization.

I guess I shouldn't assume none are reporting this as I only listen to FNC; however, while they were all All Cindy ALL the Time, I suspect that none of the DBM are reporting this. FNC did give it a brief mention yesterday (kristinn is on the trip!):

Local Gold Star Families Take Secret Trip to Iraq [FReepers Included]
Sacramento Union ^ | Published: November 3, 2006 | SacUnion Staff Report

Posted on 11/04/2006 12:51:37 AM PST by Jim Robinson

In a stunning and historic trip under the utmost secrecy, a delegation of families of fallen U.S. troops have traveled to Iraq to counter critics of the war effort, just days before the Nov. 7 midterm elections.

The delegation of “Gold Star Families” agreed to provide the Sacramento Union with an exclusive account of their trip to Iraq based on the assurance that news of their mission would not be published until they had safely left Amman, Jordan.

So secret is their trip that even members of the Bush Administration were kept in the dark about their planned activities.

They’ve come to Iraq from cities throughout America as part of a 12-person delegation in a history-making effort – no other coordinated group of “Gold Star Families” has ever traveled to Iraq, and they come with a message that is sure to ignite a firestorm of debate.

“The American people are shown a skewed picture of the situation in Iraq day after day by the international news media. We felt it was time to allow the families of U.S. troops who died in Iraq to come see the progress being made in Iraq and report it back to the American ,” said Melanie Morgan, Chairman of Move America Forward.

Move America Forward, a Sacramento-based pro-troop non-profit organization is organizing the 10-day journey to Iraq. The group previously led a contingent of radio talk show hosts to Iraq in July 2005.

To demonstrate their contention that things are better in Iraq than what has been portrayed in many news accounts, the delegation is intentionally traveling to Iraqi provinces that have largely been free of the violence that has erupted in Baghdad and the surrounding Sunni triangle.

So basically he was espousing "Cut and run" in fancier words?

As I see it, the Democrats' plan for Iraq is:

Cut and Run...

...but with oversight.

The Sunday Morning Talk Shows - The Review

Note especially Joe Biden (FTN) and Max Cleland (LE).

By Mark Kilmer

Sunday, November 5, 2006.

On MTP, none of the four congressional campaign committee leaders -- Dole, Reynolds, Schumer, Emanuel -- thought that the Saddam verdict would affect the vote on Tuesday, but Rahm was quick to stress that 2,000 American soldiers had died since Saddam was captured. Dole thinks all politics is local. Schumer thinks this election will be a referendum on Bush and Iraq. Emanuel could not defend his hypocrisy on negative advertising. Russert grilled Reynolds about Foley.

On TW, Vice President Dick Cheney repeated that what we're doing in Iraq is the "right thing to do." Cut and run sends the wrong message and it weakens governments like Hamid Karzai's in Afghanistan and Pervez Musharraf's in Pak. Steph asked him why the President doesn't get credit for the "extremely low" unemployment rate, and Cheney noted: "You guys aren't helping."

On FNS, Claire McCaskill, whose name we may hopefully forget soon, boasted of her support for the Missouri constitutional amendment which allows cloning of embryonic stem cells but opposed cloning.

Also on FNS, John Boehner promised that if the Republicans retain control of the House, the Republicans will look at their leadership situation and get back to the focus of 1994.

On FTN, Joe Biden promised that if the Democrats close the gap in the Senate, "you're not going to see any more right wing nominees to the Supreme Court." He also said that Republicans would be emboldened and would openly rebel against the President's Iraq policies.

Also on FTN, Bill Frist was big on Republican momentum.

On LE, Tony Snow was confidant that the Iraqis were making progress toward taking control of their own affairs. By contrast, Max Cleland said that he did not know if Saddam were guilty of anything and that we should concentrate on capturing Osama bin Laden. (He did not address the benefits of a stable and Democratic Iraq versus those of capturing a guy who might be dead and can't do much even if he is alive.)

This one really got to me, though it's exactly what I would expect: "... Max Cleland said that he did not know if Saddam were guilty of anything... " absolutely incredible!  That's like saying "this Hitler fellow is OK in my book!"  Moron.  But what can you expect from someone who has built a career over having blown himself up with his own grenade while drinking beers with his buddies.

Ruby Ridge happened under the first President Bush, not Clinton.

Yes, but the investigation / cover up occurred under Clinton and was orchestrated by Janet Reno's Justice Department and led by the current Democrat candidate for governor in Massachusetts, Deval Patrick.  He's the one that decided that shooting an unarmed woman holding a baby wasn't a reason to indict a sniper.  That set the stage for Waco.  Hey, they're Christians with guns and kooky cult like ones at that.  They only got what they deserved.  Or at least that was the attitude of the Clinton administration.

Good news this morning...Saddam is gonna swing from the Hangman's Noose.

Too bad the MSM doesn't share in the joy.

Even FNC this morning was trying to soften the image of this brutal dictator.

Max Cleland, on CNN Late Edition, said that he didn't know if Saddam were guilty of anything.

Obscenity, thy name is "liberal."

#595, I have to watch out because sometimes I say things in jest or accidentally and the name or phrase sticks, and I forget to say the real name. In my County we talk to a lot of elderly, and this can be very confusing, they do not get the joke. I also have to speak slower, than my sometimes staccato style when I am revved up with little time to accomplish so much. Older People are great Pubbies, but trying to explain to a really elderly man that because of Campaign Finance Laws we cannot include K Harris and Joe Negron on our local Republican Party Campaign mail outs. We can only name all the Pubbie State Candidates. It is really frustrating and causes time to be lost and mental anguish for the Elderly Pubbies that do not vote lock step(like Rat voters),but want answers. It has been tough the last few weeks, but we will push forward.

That was probably Doug Shoen...I didn't see it...but your description sounds like him.

Oh, yeah, for sure, I want ALL of the incumbent R's to win...

I DO hope that we know the Senate is well in hand before Montana though...that will make for a very long night, if that is the make/break seat..

I think I heard Jeff Birnbaum say 30 seats for the dems also...maybe that is the number Soros told everyone to tout...LOL

I agree with most of your points. From my perspective I guess I would put some emphasis a bit differently. Of course, we all have different perspectives on the same events at the same time.

I remember arguing what to do with the Peace Dividend during Bush I, and the reality was the Democrats simply spent it on pet projects. Their belief was we could use technology to replace intelligence if ever needed anyway and we didn’t need the number of troops NOR upgrades to weapons systems or other R&D. Conservatives said this would not work, and we were once again proven correct.

In Tommy Frank’s book, he tells of his initial efforts using hand held communication between artillery vehicles for organization and movement. This rang true since I was serving in Germany in a cavalry unit at the same time. That one change allowed his artillery unit to redeploy faster than the armor units believed possible. We were still using hand signals for the most part. To me this was a turning point in that it proved the effectiveness of communication technology on the battlefield that would usher in better coordination between units.

I don’t question or doubt your sincerity. This is actually a good and honest debate on the best methods to achieve the desired results. Back to Frank’s book, he explained his reasoning in using fewer troops and I buy his logic even though I personally believe the war would have been won even faster had the Fourth ID come down from the North. Although, I also understand his reasoning of the congestion of troops trying to deploy in one small area causing more problems than it would have solved. The result has been the number of “boots on the ground” argument. I would much rather discuss this with someone who has the same goals I have versus a cut and run leftist.

Regardless, we were not well prepared to enforce the peace once it was over, IMHO. But complainers have to be reminded our military is there to win wars, not to act as policemen or the Peace Corps. The answer would seem to be an entire division of military police ready to deploy in such situations. If the current methods and tactics are going to be used in the future, we have to consider new units to enter a war zone developed to resolve issues of humanitarian aid and rebuilding infrastructure.

Additionally, we could eliminate any insurgency if we were willing to control the population as Saddam, Syria or Iran would do it. The USA humanitarian holding back to save civilian Iraqi lives is costing us American lives. I hope they continue to appreciate our sacrifice in their behalf.

... they mentioned J.D. Hayworth (is he in trouble?) - and how he is in a tight race.

Two things about Hayworth.  He's a high profile conservative that the DCCC has made a target and spent big money to defeat and, on top of that, they've been registering thousands of illegals to vote against him.

It's exactly what they did to Bob Dornan to defeat him.

Hayworth has one advantage.  He's been a big target as a recipient of "Abramoff money."  Well the money in question came directly from Indian tribes in his district.  He's turned that whole thing into an attack by the DBM on the Indians.  There's a real good chance that Hayworth could take a majority of the Indian vote in his district (he has done great things for them as his constituents) which would blow the whole Dhimmicrat plan right out of the water.  On top of that the people of "The Nations" are some of the most upset about illegal immigration as it's often their land being trashed and their entry level jobs being stolen.  They don't like the illegals getting influence instead of them, which could lead to a big knock down drag out fight for control of the South Western United States, with the Indians on our side against the Mexicans.

Wouldn't that be fun?

Two things folks

On Friday, I was at a dem rally in Logan Co. WV..Byrd, Rockefeller and Rep. Nick Rahall were there.

None of the three said without a doubt that the house was theirs..They said they THINK it's theirs..but they werent going to predict it. They asked..begged for the GOTV..

I found it interesting that none of the three would go out on a limb and say they had won either house.

Secondly...this morning on MTP. none of the dims would say they had won the house..and wouldnt even predict it..

Folks...they aren't sure this thing is won, by any means..

I found it strange that none of them would predict it..they said signs are good, but wouldnt bet...

It ain't over..
