Well, I hope Roskam wins...but she is ahead in nearly all the polls.

EXCEPT for a couple of the most recent ones....good news for Roskam. He may win this; I sure hope he does.

"Just being a Vet should not guarantee a lock-in for any candidate."

She does not support the war, she's nothing but a cut and run RAT.

The November issue of VFW magazine has a section listing all of the current vets running for office as well as what they could determine they stand for. Duckworth is listed amongst them.

The article, although not endorsing any of the 6 listed (5 Democrats and 1 Republican) states that none of them list a "well defined stance on Veterans' issues."

Since the VFW is a Veterans Interest group, could it be they endorse the candidate that makes Veterans issues part of their platform, over Iraq?

Let us pray that 25% of Md. voters vote for Steele anyhow no matter what this rank freshman, Obama says. What makes this novice an expert anyhow.

I dont believe either the American Legion or the VFW would endorse cut and run.

If we leave Iraq the future in the Middle East is up for grabs.

Honorable service is a plus, but not a determining factor. Those who have served honorably, in my experience, don't exploit that service or make of it more than it was. Those that do exploit it: Jon Carry, Murtha, McCain, Max Cleland...

Does she belong to the VFW?

She does not live in the district she is running to represent; it is unlikely that she shops in the district, goes to church in the district, or even knows that many people in the district.

What has never been explained in the local paper stories about this person is why she chose to run in that district in the first place. But why should objective media sources provide objective analysis?

Yikes! I guess that running for Congress is one way to do that.

" Does she support cut and run?"

- Yes. Another web site which touts her background has her quoted as saying the US must get out of Iraq. She was recruited by Dem operatives who approached her while she was still undergoing recovery at Walter Reed Hospital - which must say something about their selection criteria for office. It must have been, pick a candidate who is:
a) a woman (soccer mom vote)
b) a vet (military vote)
c) handicapped in some manner (sympathy vote)
You can why they pounced on Duckworth when they spotted her while cruising the wards at Reed looking for the ideal pick.
Apparently, the previous Dem candidate who had wanted to run again and who had gotten 44% in the last election was dropped by the Dems like a bad habit once they landed Duckworth.

I am willing to bet anyone that none of the Dems who believe Duckworth should be elected simply because of her wounded veteran status voted for Bob Dole in '96. This vote-for-her-because-she's-a-wounded-vet is a complete fraud. As are Duckworth's qualifications. People in Minnesota are ready to elect a Dem woman (Patty Wetterling) simply because her son was kidnapped and killed fifteen years ago. She's just another typical lib pol with no qualifications.

It looks a lot like the Democrats went shopping.

Shopping for a candidate.

If we leave Iraq the future in the Middle East is up for grabs.

It goes beyond just the middle east.
First off, it will absolutely embolden all the mooselimb fanatics to attack us. It will also embolden EVERYBODY who has ever thought of, or dreamt of a terror attack against the US. Beyond us, if the mighty US will cut and run, then obviously far weaker countries would do the same, and so terrorists will see the rest of the world as easy targets.

Next, throw the entire middle east into disarray and oil stability ceases. This goes well beyond the US and its 300 million people, but affects the entire world and its 6 billion people.

Destabilize the middle east, upset oil production for the entire world and chaos will ensue. Japan went to war with us in WWII because of raw materials including oil.

Next, the entire world will see us as cut and runners, and though they may despise our military strength, they also live by it. If they don't properly respect our might and moral direction, then in desperation will attempt to do things for themselves. Imagine a loose canon like the nut in NK if he decided that he was going to grab "his share" of mid east oil. Without the US as a stabilizer, Russia or China would rush in a squelch anything and everything, to ensure their oil appetite. I trust China and Russia with the worlds oil supply, like I trust Iran with nukes for peaceful purposes.

And just try to imagine that if mid east oil was controlled by the UN instead of Russia or China. You think the previous oil for food scandal was something?

Also there are 1 billion+ mooslimbs throughout the world, throw the mid east into chaos, and its quite possible that there will be 1 billion mooselimbs not only at each others throats (which they continually prove eager to do) but they will be at the rest of the worlds throats. Imagine a desperate for oil France, if they should try to do something, they have their own population rising up against them.

It is extremely important that the US does not cut and run. Well beyond the precious lives of our soldiers. Or the delicate sympathies of the left. If the US does not finish this, the lives that are lost will be 10 fold of what has been lost thus far.

We occuopied Japan for 6-1/2 years after WWII, and Germany for 10 years, after WWII.

We have been in Iraq now for only 3 years. But insurgencies have been spearheaded by Syria and Iran. These countries have no desire for stability in the area.

I basically agree with everything you posted. I figure Iran will take Iraq and then Syria .Lebanon The Palestinians and Iran will band together to destroy Israel and possibly, before they go ,Israel will nuke the whole damned place.

But what amazes is the stupidity of the Democrats not to be able to envision this. They actually think we can cut and run and then make diplomatic deals with this pack of varmints, and suck up to Europe and buy all this with a Kyoto treaty. They are crazy.
