Using Bob Kerry's logic, he should have been defending Tim McVeigh.

The VFW won't endorse Jim Ryun in Kansas either.

Why doesn't anyone tell me these things?

If you donate to FR you get the special decoder ring and secret memos from the Rovian master.

My very short tenure with both the VFW and American Legion taught me that they both are comprise of beer-gut prone inveterate bar stool occupants who know every condemnatory fact regarding politics, foreign policy and how to run the U.S. government. That, along with skewed memories of the past and not at all reluctant to tell the world how they alone saved a battle, captured a battalion of enemy, won the war (at least one that we really won) while slugging down beers and peanuts, yet, they contribute nothing of worth to the social structure or contemporary debate. Each month my mail contains entreaties to re-join to save the nation while implying in not too subtle terms that there must be something sinister about my not wanting to be among that bunch of dead weights.

Instead, it has been rewarding to serve the USO at a nearby airport to welcome and chat with young kids and mid-level officers who stop in to await their flight and contribute dollars to an organization with real life rather than the smell of stale beer and feigned bravado.

What I see is the old strategy of dragging out a 'victim', using them as a shield, using them for sympathy votes, etc. is now a failed strategy.

It's been exposed and thank you Ann Coulter, Rush, etc.

We've been Cindy Sheehanned out, we've been Duckworthed out, we've been Michael Foxed out, and they've been found out.

The Dems think that no one should go to war. It's a great way to think, it's an idyllic way to think. And it means that you can't lead. And people see it.

I am sorrybthis girl lost her legs. However I cant see how that quqlifies her to be endorsed by the VFW. By the way does she even belong to the VFW. or the American Legion. I didnt see, but enquiring minds qwould like to know.

..Max Cleland was also wrong on the issues and should not be in office.

Liberals are shameless.

According to the democrats and MSM, if you do not support our agenda you should be ashamed of your self.

We have Veterans running, We have sick people asking you to vote to kill babies, We have Senators that state you are too stupid to understand what I meant when I attacked our troops.

Meanwhile the Muslim terrorists are our #1 supporters.

You can also go back to Superman. And the Brady anti-gun bill. This must end. All these people should have been called on the carpet a long time ago.

as well as national figures such as former Sen. Bob Kerrey, a veteran who lost a leg in Vietnam...

Bob Kerrey: "What's you names!!?? I want the names of everyone on this thread!"

I forget whether Kerry spoke to the VFW or American Legion in 2004. I do remember a bunch of guys turning their backs to him as he spoke. Those backs are still turned.

If Americans carryied their political ideology in their limbs, this misplaced anger would have some merit. No matter what anyone contributes and sacrifices for this nation, it shouldn't be an automatic pass to being endorsed or elected.

"Bob did you vote for George 41, did you vote for Bob Dole?"

EXCELLENT question......no doubt, Kerrey
voted for the draft dodger, Clinton, rather than
the decorated war hero, GHW Bush.
Ho hum, another day, another example of dimocrat hypocrisy.

That's just silly. Duckworth now has thrown in with people who want to surrender to the car bombers and beheaders. Her opponent wants to defeat them. Her sacrifice was great and her service admirable. But now she wants to give up. The VFW disagrees.
How dare Kerrey get involved? In the 2000 presidential campaign, he allowed himself to be used by the Dems in their largely successful campaign to disenfranchise GI voters. He has no moral authority on this. The VFW is not saying Duckworth can't vote!

Well, Bush lost his little sister to a terrible disease - they shouldn't criticize him either then!

--Wasn't Eric Rudolph, hated enemy of the baby-killing left, a veteran? Ask 'em if they'd like to see him elected.-

So was Tim McVeigh.
