The lawyers of Saddam will be present at the verdict Sunday
AMMAN - the lawyers of Saddam Hussein will be present Sunday at the High penal court in Baghdad to attend the verdict of the first lawsuit of the deposed Iraqi president, indicated to Friday to AFP the foreman of defense, Khalil Al-Doulaïmi.
With the question of knowing if the team would go to the statement of the verdict, waited Sunday, it answered: "I will go to Baghdad in company of all the members of the team of defense and among them Ramsey Clark, a former American minister for justice".
Me Doulaïmi in addition estimated that "if the court wants to act legally, which seems excluded, it must agree to receive the documents of defense, and which the lawyers can make their pleading".
"It is what the court must do if he wants to comply with the rules in force especially (...) that Iraq saw a civil war and that the doors of the hell are likely to open if an illogical decision is made".
The lawyers of Saddam Hussein having boycotted the end of the audiences, the pleading of defense had been ensured by an officially appointed lawyer.
The committee of defense in addition asked that a new date be fixed for the lawsuit so that it can less present the pleadings within step "than 60 days".
In an official statement made public, the committee estimated that a refusal of the court would mean that the lawsuit of Saddam Hussein "is political and that it takes into account, in its decision, the interests of the occupant and the American elections".
The lawyers of Saddam had boycotted the lawsuit in July to protest against nonthe satisfaction of their requests, in particular a protection of the members of defense, after the assassination of three as of theirs since the beginning of the legal procedure in October 2005.
They had been replaced then by officially appointed lawyers.
The death penalty was necessary against Saddam Hussein for executions of 148 inhabitants Shiites of the village of Doujaïl (60 km in the north of Baghdad) in the months and the years which followed the corrosion of the convoy of the former president, whereas he visited this village in 1982.
During the lawsuit, which proceeded of October 19, 2005 to July 27, 2006, defense tried to call in question the legitimacy of the court and to prove the political character of the procedure.
Me Doulaïmi forms part of 12 principal lawyers who defend Saddam Hussein and her seven co-defendants in the lawsuit of Doujaïl.
They also represent the former president and six co-defendants in another lawsuit, where they are judged to have carried out, in Kurdistan (northern), in 1988, an offensive, called Anfal, which made more than 180.000 died, according to the charge.
Take Kerry with him, and be sure he has dinner in a mess hall with the troops....
Clark should stay over there.
If Kerry goes, he has to take his buddy Harkin (Iowa) with him!
I wonder if they could be persuaded to hang that worthless POS along with Saddam.
Now, there's an idea.
Can we get a 2fer here?
Mybe the Iraquis can do a twofer, and shoot Clark while they're at it
Have the troops drop off Clark and Kerry along a long stretch of highway and let them thumb their way into Baghdad.
Two ropes,no waiting!

"Old Sparky"
Under Sharia Law, don't they behead the losing lawyers?
If not - they should...
Semper Fi
Hang Ramsey Clark, Lynne Stewart, and a slew of other leftist traitors alongside Saddam.
FORMER ATTORNEY GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES--DEMOCRAT.
Shame that they can't hang him too ....

I think Ramsey Clark ought to plan on flying in to Baghdad to be a human shield for Saddam when he faces his firing squad...

Lock and Load.
The only greater justice would be if Saddam were caught in the crossfire with him.
Wouldn't it be a shame if he got hit with an IED.
Tje Shiites aren't good enough to kill Ramsey Clark.
We have enough terrorists here.
We don't want that one, too.
Regards, Ivan
One of the Shiite police just, just might mistake Clark for a Sunni.
Lock and Load.
LOL! It is tempting. I am not far from that courthouse at all.
I imagine it's going to be pretty bumpy around here by Sunday.
But if he gets convicted, there will likely be celebratory gunfire in the streets. Perhaps a stray celebratory bullet could...
Regards, Ivan
Hope they sentence Saddam to hard labor -- stretching rope.
For that matter, they can do the same to Ramsey Clark, too.
Take kerry along, but DO NOT ALLOW any American troops near him. The troops are not worthy enough to be in his company. So let him be as free as a bird in Iraq, all by his lonesome.
Don't hangmen's rops have 13 twists? I thought I read that, somewhere.
You are right. I think these particular neckties were done by the sheriff's lynch mob.
LOL
I wish he could share Saddam's verdicts.
Death by hanging should be used in the United States. It would be an appropriate punishment for treason, starting with Kerry. Congress determines the punishment for treason per Article III, Section 3 of the U.S. Constitution. Not sure what the current penalty is, but it should be death by hanging.
You be careful over there.
There seems to be a general consensus that it's going to be a little nuts around here tomorrow. We're making bets now on whether Saddam gets the DEATH sentence on this one or not.
We're not betting money...the losers of the bets have to do goofy, embarrassing things in public places like the chow hall or the PX.
We really are starved for entertainment around here. ;-)
I live in Montana, I'm starved for entertainment too!
It's going to make a death sentence for the monster even more apropos.
And it's going to make President Bush, whom the Slimes was trying to smear, look even more prescient.

We don't want him here. We have enough terrorists here already and the troops are trying to clean the place up. Can't Iran take him? Or maybe North Korea? ;-)
Just send Clark to Kurdistan then. I'm sure he'll be warmly greeted there.
Human Shield alert
Stay safe my FRiend and thanks for your service!
You might be on to something there. ; )
I know what you're thinking, but 34 stray celebratory bullets to the chest might be regarded with some suspicion. You know how people are.
I'll supply enough rope for Kerry, Carter, and Clinton.
