He was on the Big Story with John Gibson yesterday. He's the one to watch and if the GOP is smart he will be the nominee.

Stop with that nonsense that he can't win. He deserves the nomination. There is no one near him with the conservative principles and the way in which he effectively responds to the media/Demonrats. Republicans are going to need that so stop with that bias because he has the goods and it doesn't hurt that he has the personal story in being a Vietnam war vet with a son that served in Iraq.

The biggest obstacle to electing Congressman Hunter is the elitist Republican establishment. They will pull out all the stops to keep him from getting nominated.

Being a nominee would get him all the attention he needs. This man is perfect and was made to be President. He is an effective speaker who is strong in what he stands for and he is a hero. He's the best the GOP has and to hell with being Senator or Governor. Hunter is the real deal.

Don't know much about Hunter ... but there is a huge opening developing on the right in the GOP nomination race.

Hunter or somebody could make some real noise.

I agree-we don't need another Bob Dole running-that was a joke.

I'm sick of the argument that he doesn't have as high profile of a name too. He is the Armed Services Committee chairman and has been an effective Rep. He's right on with the issues and is comfortable with who he is and what he stands for and is able to get it across extremely well. He's awesome and I'll be donating when the time comes. I just want to see him destroy Hillary or Obama or whoever the Demonrats put up there in the debates. He'd be a very strong candidate and people will respect his military history too.

Have you seen Hunter respond to the media, Demonrat criticisms? He's not gonna take any of that!

Agree that he is the real deal. It just that the floor is strewn with the names of unseccessful presidental candidates who ran from the House.

The reality is there is NO ONE better that represents Republican values or who can match Hunter's credibility especially in military matters and consider these are the most dangerous of times! Being nominee would take care of itself and Hunter would make himself known.

You are so right. I think back a few years and wondered who the hell this Bill Clinton was. I had never ever heard of him before. Yet , he went on to win the presidency.

Lincoln was one of those from the House and Hunter is in a league of his own. I stand by what I say when I say there is no one better. Being from California he is handicapped in that it is not likely a Republican could gain a Senate or governor position(that state is seriously messed up) and Hunter is too good to not make a run for the presidency.

I agree with you. But it will be an uphill fight to get him nominated. If we can do that he will win in a landslide in the general.

I'm going to keep pushing Hunter. People need to get over this "he is not known like Rudy, McCain, Allen, etc". For over a yr., since those names have been mentioned I've always thought he would make a great president and put his names in the threads where people discussed the '08 nominee and obviously he doesn't have their high profiles but I've become a fan watching his strong stances on the issues and seeing him respond to media criticisms on Abu Ghraib, the CNN sniper video, etc. He's one of the Republicans who really gets it when people are crying about Republicans who are too spineless to respond. Really, this is the best that he's running and I hope people will get over this bias.

###

That may be the greatest understatement since Noah said, "It looks like rain." There is NO other conservative in the race right now.

Yeah, I know. It's fighting the naysayers that say "he's only a Rep. and not as well known". He's got plenty of experience and all he really does need is the GOP nomination.

The more that run the merrier

As an aside:
Lincoln was not a sitting rep when elected, he was a private lawyer. As a matter of fact he was defeated for the Senate by Douglas (Of "Lincoln-Douglas Debates" fame.)

That's what the “Rockefeller Republicans” who are firmly in charge of the party establishment right now want people to think. We can expect them to push that crap hard and we can expect people to believe it.

In 1972, 1976 and 1980, the establishment said Reagan was too conservative to win the general. We finally prevailed in 1980 and got him nominated and he won in two landslides.
