UPPER MARLBORO, Md., Nov. 2 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Committee for Common Sense Government, No on B,F,C,G kicked off its efforts today to educate Prince George's County voters about ballot questions B, F, C and G. The Committee asserts the questions are Bad for County Government, waste taxpayer dollars, creates a $23 Million slush fund and compromises the safety of Prince George's families.
The Committee rolled out a new television advertisement on Prince George's cable television stations to get the word out before the general election on Nov. 7. To view the commercial go to http://www.badforcountygovernment.com.
"Ballot questions B, F, C and G are about power, not accountability. These charter amendments put politics in place of process and procedure. Our goal is to inform every resident of Prince George's County that these amendments are not only bad for county government, but more importantly, are bad for the community." said John Peter Thompson, the president-elect of the Prince George's County Chamber of Commerce.
Thompson strongly opposes these amendments because he believes they will severely harm the progress small and minority businesses have made in the County. Former County Executive Wayne K. Curry and former Governor Parris N. Glendening have publicly expressed their concerns about these shortsighted and ineffective ballot initiatives. (Washington Post, October 15, 2006)
B, F, C and G are Bad for County Government because:
One of the ballot questions gives Prince George's politicians an annual $23 million dollar slush fund with no accountability and no oversight. This will divert money that could be spent on public safety, education, and vital life saving services.
The purchase of vital public safety and life saving equipment, such as bulletproof vests, ambulances, and fire trucks, will be dangerously delayed.
B, F, C and G will add more red tape when responding to the needs of social and emergency preparedness agencies by requiring that new positions go through the government's long legislative approval process.
The biggest losers of B, F, C and G will be small and minority owned businesses. The added time and expense necessary to clear small contracts through more government bureaucracy will make it virtually impossible for a small and minority business owner to compete for Prince George's County business.
In addition, existing County vendor relationships will be compromised and potentially severed due to the county's shift in business practices from procurement to politics.

I didn't get a good look at the ballot questions until today... but I'm glad I did. I cannot believe they even had the gaul to put B, F, C, and G on the ballot! I'm definitely voting NO.
