At private powwow, clinton discusses LGBT issues
Sen. Hillary Clinton spoke to a group of about 40 LGBT leaders and elected officials last Wednesday at a meeting organized by Gary Parker, founder of the Greater Voices coalition of New York City’s progressive LGBT political clubs.
In a fairly informal Q&A discussion, Sen. Clinton said she would work to repeal the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, she would support the New York State legislature if it legalized same-sex marriage, and that she thought using the terms "civil unions" or "domestic partnerships" instead of "marriage" was the best strategy for getting equal benefits for same-sex couples across the country.
She tied the progress of almost all LGBT issues to flipping control of the Congress on Nov. 7 and said that she would be able to work out a better funding formula for New York on the Ryan White CARE Act if Democrats took the Senate. Democrats need to pick up 15 seats to win control of the House and six seats to take the Senate.
The meeting took about nine months of negotiation and was an opportunity for Sen. Clinton to reach out to New York’s LGBT community after she had been criticized by some activists for not being more supportive of gay rights and marriage equality specifically.

Being as Hillary is a closet lesbian and it Will come out in 2008 I hope she wins the RAT nomination.
So, among other things, she would work to repeal the don't ask don't tell law in the military. But that law came in under Bill Clinton. Is she breaking with Bill's policy? Also, Bill signed the Defense of Marriage Act. From the sound of things, she would be opposed to such laws defining what marriage is.
Well, stay tuned as Hillary lines up support among the politically correct crowd.
