IREY CAMP ANNOUNCES 'CREATE A TV OR WEB AD FOR DIANA!' CONTEST

(MONONGAHELA, October 26) -- Diana Irey for Congress general consultant Bill Pascoe announced today that the Irey campaign is sponsoring a contest and inviting its supporters to submit their own TV and web ads to make the case for Diana Irey and/or against Jack Murtha. The winner of the contest will receive a new 80-GB video iPod. For more on the contest, see: http://www.politicspa.com.

"One of the difficulties we've had in this campaign is deciding on which of the many reasons to vote for Diana Irey we should concentrate. Should our ads focus on Diana's record as a Washington County Commissioner, where she fought successfully to enact seven straight balanced budgets without a tax increase? Where she voted to reform the prison system, to ensure that prisoners were put to work so they could pay restitution to the victims of their crimes? Where she voted against giving cable TV to prison inmates? Where she was instrumental in the build-out of the Southpointe Development, which led to the creation of more than 5,000 jobs?

"Or should the ads focus on one (or more!) of the many, many reasons to vote AGAINST Jack Murtha -- such as, for instance, the fact that the full FBI Abscam surveillance video, revealed four weeks ago for the very first time in 26 years, proves that Jack Murtha hasn't been telling the truth about his role in the biggest Congressional corruption scandal in history -- that, in fact, the tape makes clear that he BELIEVED he had cut a deal to take a $50,000 cash bribe from an undercover agent for the FBI?

"Or should the ads focus instead on Jack Murtha's repeated refusal to vote for tougher border security measures? Or his declaration that U.S. Marines at Haditha had 'killed innocent civilians in cold blood,' before the first Marine was charged, before the first court-martial was convened, before the first Marine was convicted? Or his ludicrous suggestion that we could safely redeploy U.S. armed forces from Iraq to Okinawa, almost 5,000 miles away?

"Or perhaps the ads should just focus in on the two most outrageous items in a long laundry list of items from his background: the fact that he once hosted a welcome back party (in his taxpayer-funded congressional office, no less!) for a former congressional staffer who'd just been convicted of taking a bribe from a corrupt lobbyist, and the fact that he tried to rewrite the law to require taxpayers to pay the legal bills of Members of Congress who had actually been CONVICTED of taking bribes -- as long as it was just a SMALL bribe?

"There's a wealth of information available to potential ad-makers. They can either go to the Irey campaign's main site at www.irey.com, or, for a veritable treasure trove of information on Jack Murtha's background, they can visit our sister site at www.youdontknowjack.org.

"Rules of the contest are simple: produce a 60-second or 30-second TV or flash animation ad. Email it to Bill@irey.com by 12 noon Eastern Time on Wednesday, November 1. The Irey Campaign will be the sole judge of the contest, and we'll announce a winner one week from today. Please make sure to include contact information and documentation.

"We're looking forward to the submissions, and we'll get back to you with a winner next week!"

I AXTED you if you were cold!

Was that before or after I told you to get back in the car and close the door?

How could I have heard you, the motor was running and the heat was turned up full blast!

Maybe I should buy a car with a running board and an outside handgrip. ;-)

Sorry for the extra pings today, but things are moving fast! We need to get images out there linking Kerry and Murtha. As my esteemed colleague, the jazmeister, has said, "Kerry and Murtha are peas in a pod".

If you or someone you know can do illustrations, animated gifs, or photo artwork--PLEASE POST THEM HERE!

Here's one idea for an ad aimed at Reagan Democrats in the 12th District...

This is based on something Bones said about the importance of a promise in amongst people in the 12th District.

As you see, I'm really attracted to the slogan that "Diana Irey Will Speak for You". I think it underlines the outrageous crap that Murtha's been slinging around.

So here's my favorite. I got the idea from a Freeper somewhere on this thread. (I'll have to find the post later to ping him here.)

I liked the "Daddy" piece so much I tried a variation with larger type. I think I like the other one better.

And that's my evening's labor. Gimme feedback!

I am speechless. (no wise cracks please)

These are better than your best so far!

The last one, with the soldier, is of course my absolute favorite, at the same time my heart is breaking for my heroes.
