I've been looking into buying an HDTV lately but, I'm having trouble justifying the purchase. I just know that if I plunk down a couple of thousand dollars on an HDTV that the very next day they will come out with something that is better and cheaper.

With that line of thinking you will never buy any piece of electronics. There will always be "something better" coming out in a few months. You just have to buy it and enjoy it.

If you are a sports fan, you'll love HD. It's perfect for sports. I held out as long as I could and finally upgraded to an HD television this fall and I've really enjoyed it.

Discussing that over here:

Looking for Information about Televisions. Time to replace my TV.

Just bought a 32" LCD HDTV for $799...love it already...world series and NFL games look good...

I'm doing the same thing. After doing some shopping this past weekend I've decided that plasma is the best technology at the present time, but we have SED coming on line next year and laser projection a bit after that. It will take until 2009 for SED to start dropping in price.

I don't really want to wait until 2009 so I'll probably buy a medium size plasma (42 inch) with a plan to make it the bedroom TV when I go big screen SED when it drops in price.

LCD just isn't as sharp as plasma and rear projection DLP doesn't look as good plus requires an expensive bulb replacement every three years or so.

You can get a 37" LCD for around $1300 with a VGA input. Makes a fantastic computer display as well as an HDTV. In a few years when they are selling for a lot less, get another & run dual head! (if you have the room).
