Probably not. If he actually was a Christian then he's with the Lord now and can rest assured that all things are working for the good of those who love the Lord. As such, he probably isn't too worried.

If the saints suffer because they are no longer in any sense a part of the majority or a part of a majority that feels that their faith is a valid basis for works––their their suffering (if for the Gospel of God) will be for their ultimate glory.

A concept El Cid would have well understood in life even as he sought to be someone to take a stand against foreign invaders who did not know God.
