WASHINGTON, DC, October 13, 2006-- The DC Chapter has FReeped at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for 78 weeks. We've FReeped in the frigid cold. We've FReeped in the snow. We've braved nor'easter winds and sticky, buggy heat waves. This week, we FReeped on Friday the 13th. And the scariest thing in sight was the familiar line-up of hippie die-hards down the street:
Take notice, readers, that these hard-core anti-war protestors from Code Pink, Veterans for Peace and socialist/communist unions were bookending themselves with official American flags. But their "brand identity" wavers from week to week -- just two weeks ago, this was their banner:
The America-haters are so desperate, they will try anything, even the real flag, to try to get passing motorists to mistake them for us, and give them a wave or a beep. This week, we had a new message for passersby:
[Mr] Trooprally writes, "With tgslTakoma not here tonight to organize the pizza, no one thought it was coming, but it did. Jimmy Valentines Brother said it was an early Christmas present from Santa Claus."
Rumor also had it that Olgaesq01 would not be FReeping in order to hang garlic to ward off misfortune, but that was just a rumor. Here's the complete Honor Roll of fearless FReepers who came out on FRiday the 13th: Albion Wilde, Apple Blossom, lurker Barbara, lurker Bill from MD, BillF, BMWcyle, Cindy-True-Supporter, Fraxinus, Freeping_In_Silence, ILoveW, Jimmy Valentine's Brother, Just A Nobody, Kristinn, Maica, Managusta, Mr. Sparling, PleaDeal, Sensei Ern, TFroatz, 3D-Joy, Tolerance Sucks Rocks, Tom the Redhunter and Trooprally [Mr. & Mrs].
We were also visited by several soldiers from the WRAMC base. One of them displayed a very fresh tattoo, with the letters of his name, rank and service theatre still raised up and swelling on his forearm. After a brief chat, he went off to put some heat and ice on that.
A career sergeant made the rounds of the corners to thank us. He was using a wheelchair to give his recovering legs a break, having toured the Pentagon earlier in the day. As usual when soldiers say that sort of thing, we thanked him profusely for his service and begged to post a photo of his handsome self with this report, but he very modestly declined, saying that others should get attention for their heroism.
Turning to glance at the anti-war stragglers from the 60s down the street, he said, "I can't stand those people. Our guys are doing what they are supposed to do. I was in Saudi Arabia and Kosovo," he added. "When Iraq came about, I was willing to go over there. I'm almost 50; I try to be a good example for the younger guys," he laughed, looking much younger and more fit than he had any natural right to. "They don't want to be shown up by a 50-year-old guy!
"I didn't even take leave if there was someone younger who needed it. I don't want anyone to fly another airplane into the Pentagon or any of our monuments -- these things were built by our forefathers. They fought on islands you can't even pronounce!
"In Iraq, I was shot by a sniper in both legs," he revealed. "But I'm going to be ok. There are a lot of wounded guys in there," he added, indicating Walter Reed and shaking his head at the bleeding-heart anti-war signs. "But they take it all in stride."
Just then, as if to prove his point, a soldier entering the hospital grounds on foot paused. He was pushing another guy in a wheelchair, who yelled and waved to us.
Mr. Sparling returned from the midwest after having taken his soldier son Josh home for a month between recovery procedures at Walter Reed. They had just learned that Josh would be promoted to sergeant the following week.
And FReeper Managusta from Florida also stood with us in spite of having buried his son at Arlington days before. He received the news of his son's death just weeks after undergoing extensive, critical surgery himself. Our hearts are open and our hats are off to him and his honored son. To FReep at Walter Reed is to stand with some of the nation's most courageous and selfless men and women, both warriors and family members.

Ping!
I have my suspicions, but I want to know from you folks on the ground who are comforting these people.
National mega-ping!
To be added or deleted from this once-weekly Walter Reed ping list, FReepmail me.
They're in a quagmire, baby, yeah!
They started out thinking they could pull off another Vietnam-era PR disaster. But it's not working out.
By "comforting these people," I take it you mean the soldiers and their families, not Code Pink?
You are all so amazing!! If our family ever has a chance to travel it will cover a Friday night so we can join you. Keep up the good work! I always love reading the after reports! :o)
GOD BLESS YOU ALL FOR KEEPING UP THE SUPPORT! DON'T LET THE PINKOS GET YOU DOWN! For them time stood still...1965! Wish I could be there to help you out, but it's a long way from Los Angeles to DC. Thanks for showing it for all of us.
If you ever get to LA on Friday night:
Studio City, SE corner of Ventura Blvd at Laurel Canyon
in front of the First Republic Bank. 6 to whenever the
moonbats leave. We never give up the corner! Dinner
afterwards.
We'd love to see you! Come on over! Besides our wonderful FReep, DC is one of the world's most beautiful and unique cities, with so many national (and free) monuments and museums to appeal to an enormous range of interests.
Actually, I meant 'confronting' - typo, my bad, wrong meaning. 'Confronting' the code pinkos.
Great going with your Studio City FReep!
And never fear, they are not getting us down -- far from it. We've had our boots on their necks for many, many months. Not even al-MSM wants to touch war protesting at a military hospital. Makes you throw up in your mouth a little.
Thanks for the clarification!
They want us to cut and run for a number of reasons, but mainly because they are wussies. They are don't believe in fighting evil because they don't believe in evil. Just people doing bad things. Plus, anything to make President Bush look bad. Alot of these folks don't even understand that they are being pawns of the Communists (ie ANSWER, MoveOn.org, etc). They are trying, and to a fair extent succeeding to convince people with their "war is not the answer" rhetoric, the same way they did in Vietnam. They prey on those that are not critical thinkers.
Check the novelty stores and websites. What you need is a little breeze in the right direction and..."Liquid Fart."
It can be dispensed very discreetly. The reactions are hysterical.
Taxman Bravo Zulu! for the FReep, pics and after-action report.
I know I keep promising to be there, and one of these days, Mrs. Taxman and I will be there, Real Soon Now!
Thank you!
I have no fear, but I know how the long it has been, and have experienced attrition first hand. We're down to three people after being there for 3 1/2 years through thick & thin. It does make you sick, especially when the MSM comes out, does a story, and then mainly shows them.
When asked about being far outnumbered I tell them, "It's quality. Not quantity."
LOLOL!!! ROFL!!!! I'VE GOT TO FIND THAT STUFF! It stinks like rotten eggs! I never thought of it. Thanks for the idea!
LOL!! They don't need no "Liquid Fart" to stink up the place! But I'll refer your suggestion to our Halliburton atmospheric executive board!
First things first! Total health and wellness advisory!
My condolences to Managusta. Thank you for raising such a wonderful son. God has a special place for him, and one day you will be together again. May God give you and your family comfort and many blessing.
"Though the singer is silent, there still is the truth of the song." - John Denver
Best wishes to Josh Sparling for a quick recovery. I got to see him at Sean Hannity's Freedom Concert in San Diego. And best wishes to Mr. Sparling and the rest of the family.
Thank you!
