CAMPAIGN 2006: Governor's Race - Mark Leno rescues one Berkeley Dem's vote for Angelides

Democrat Phil Angelides is one vote closer to being governor of California, thanks to San Francisco Assemblyman Mark Leno and a wavering Berkeley real estate agent.

When Leno read in Saturday's Chronicle that Mary Canavan, a lifelong Democrat, was "almost certain" to vote for Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, he found her number in directory assistance and called her at home, giving her a 15-minute pitch for Angelides.

Leno took his one-on-one political campaign to Canavan because "I'm just so frustrated that there could be a question in the mind of any Democrat about who to vote for in November,'' the San Francisco assemblyman told the crowd Wednesday at an "Angelides for Governor" rally on the steps of San Francisco City Hall.

Let's see, 15 minutes per voter is 4 voters per hour, for eighteen more days. I'm sure Schwarzenegger is sweating this latest effort.

If Arnold comes calling, will she switch votes again?

Yeah, this one voter will make all the difference. And what could someone POSSIBLY say to sell this dud Angelides?? I can't imagine there's a damned thing one could say to make this weasel look competent or attractive.

UNION THUG to Union Worker: "Vote for Angelides or we will make your life miserable".

Maybe Leno missed his calling. Anybody who can keep someone on the phone for 15 minutes while selling something bound to bankrupt them has a great career waiting for them as a phone solicitor for a mortgage company.

If they have to spend 15 minutes on the phone per person, they're not selling their product right.

"Vote for Angelides or we will make your life miserable".

See, that's short and to the point. What's to say in 15 minutes about a guy who is largely socially retarded, wants to legalize gay marriage, and tax the rear ends off the voters?
