The 1.7% solution: How each Republican can join this fight

We need to increase our Republican turnout by just 1.7% to do well next month. That’s it. If we work hard we win. Will you?

Over the past four mid term elections the average voter turn out has been just 32.2%.

Al of us Republicans know what happened in the 1994 mid term election, when Republicans like you and me turned out at an increased rate. We won seats that were supposed to be safe for Democrats all across the country, gained 54 seats and took control of the Congress for the first time in 40 years. Most of us never thought it could happen, but it did.

What happened in 1994 was a small but extremely important shift in Republican voter turn out. You and I voted and we won. The ironic thing is that the shift was so very small. From 1992 to 1994 Republicans like you and me, turned out at an increased rate of just 3 ½ %. Note, it was not 15% higher or even 10% higher or even just 4% higher. We turned out at a rate of 3.5% higher and had a huge victory.

In 2004 the Get Out The Vote operation that we Republicans ran produced an increase another small, but very important 1.7% and we picked up 4 seats. So with just less than 2 of every 100 Republicans, who would not have voted, being convinced to go to the polls and vote Republican we actually picked up 4 seat when history was telling us this was not possible.

The significance of how such a slight move in the turn out of Republicans like you and me can produce positive results can not be overlooked. In 2004 our Republican National Committee drew 2 million volunteers from an E mail list of 6 million committed Republicans like you and me. These volunteers worked long days in neighboring states and did great things. Our Republican Party will put you up for the time you spend and in some cases transportation will be provided. Of course driving your self and putting yourself up will free up money for other uses, but don’t let money stop you.

My experiences

In Pennsylvania where I worked, we were given a class on the structural mechanics of how our Get Out The Vote operation works. This gave us a very clear understanding that everything we were doing was planned out. We came to realize that we could actually count the various actions we personally took and see how each step took us closer to victory. In my Northern Pennsylvania group we passed our goals by 10% on Election Day.

Never mind what the media writes: Here’s the truth

As we walked the streets and roads of the little towns we worked, we met Democrats on the trail doing the same thing we were. Actually I should say attempting to do what we were doing. We came to recognize the paid “volunteers” the Democrats were using when we saw them on the streets. We would see their cars parked for long lunches and coffee breaks. We didn’t stop for more than 20 minutes and we took no coffee breaks. Their “volunteers” were union workers out of work and hired to do what we did for the love of country. The Democrats got little from these people.

This is not to say that the Democrats had no true volunteers. We knew they were out there as well. We knew this because people would come to their doors and smile at us and make comments about us not being those “hippie looking guys”.

In our conversations with some of the sane Democrats we encountered a few allowed that they had wanted to go to Ohio, but the sheer number of Republicans like you and me on the streets in Pennsylvania scared them out of where they thought they were doing better. President Bush won Ohio by 1% and lost Pennsylvania by 2 ½% after losing it by 5% in 2000. Aside from all of this, I met some of the finest people in my life and had a wonderful time. We worked ourselves tired and slept like logs each night.

We all had fun and went home knowing we had saved a few down ballot Republican seats. I will be in Pennsylvania again this year. I will work for Rick Santorum with other Republicans like you and me.

Doing what you can to help America in her time of crisis

Our American Revolution was won by 1/3 of the people who believed in this country. If you have never served in the military and maybe wish you had, take this small step for your country. We are a nation at war. We can not afford to rely on the guy next door. This is your time in America’s history. Your country needs you. You know what has to be done.

The steps you take or don’t take in the coming days will have effects well beyond the next few months and even years. We Republicans have to be able to honestly say “Yes” when our children and grandchildren ask us if we stepped up to our responsibilities to our nation’s safety and security when things looked the worst for our country. I’ll be answering “Yes” to that question. Please join me. Together we can do 1.7% better than we have done before. It’s really not such a daunting number if we all pull together.

I'm taking election day off to drive people to the polls. The current Dem leadership should scare any conservative.

Act like a dem, vote and vote often. Vote till they throw ya out of the polling place.
Go to different polling places and continue to vote.
Go over the recent death notices and vote using dead folks names just like dems.

We need to get out the vote. Remember what is at stake. Remember that if the Republicans loose it means men and women like Murtha, Durbin, Shummer, Pelosi, and Clinton get control of the funding of our military and will be emboldened to tear down our efforts abroad at the very time we need to stand strong against our gathering enemies. We would be good to remember that even though spending has increased that the deficit has been cut in half and most of the new spending has went to fight the war on terror. If we really worry about spending do we want Senator Robert Byrd (the king of Pork) leading the charge on spending?

We need to keep things in perspective, the barbarians are at the gate and are trying to divide us at this most critical time. They as a party have slandered our military and our country. They and a complicit media have forced our President to be less aggressive than he should be. They have no plan and believe that America is the biggest threat to the world not the terrorists and rouge states with nuclear weapons.

No one is saying that Republicans or any of our leaders are without flaws, if that is the standard then there is none among us that is suitable. We have a choice this election, there is a clear difference, vote for America, vote your faith, vote to keep the hate America first crowd out of power.

In my area (Wake County, NC) we can vote STARTING TOMORROW. Why not vote now? Avoid the lines.

...or do like me and request an absentee ballot.

Thanks for the post and the reminder. We need to understand that this election is essential to winning the War on Terror. A bunch of Freepers are in PA's 12th District working the phones, streets, and shopping malls for Diana Irey. Let's hope we can get Keystone Staters to the polls in record numbers. A great deal could be won--or lost--on November 7th.

My mail-in ballot is on the table. I completed it last night and will get it in the mail today.

There's the kick off, Fellow Freepers.

Let's turn out in vast numbers, trainwreck the Demos, and massacre the commie media.

Early voting starts Monday in Texas. I'll be voting early so I can devote all day the 7th to the Republicans.
