Caracas 16.10.06 | Imagine abject poverty. Imagine people scavenging for food on stinking rubbish piles. Now try and imagine a very poor person in such a setting saying "and to top it all off he is losing the UN vote to Guatemala..." Such is the surreality of this country. Hugo Chavez lost the vote today, and as Manuel Rosales aptly said moments ago in Montalban (west Caracas) Venezuela did not lose anything, rather it was Hugo Chavez who received today a democratic whipping in spite of having wasted millions in lobbying and outright vote-buying.

We see it here with reports on the "homeless" time and time again.
Chavez is a nut but you can put together a photojournalists "diary" of poverty like this in any nation on Earth.

Every single one of them could get a job if they WANTED to.
Some people CHOOSE to live like that, and shouldn't be exploited by bleading heart liberals with cameras taking pictures that are hardly truthful of their situation. Oher's are victims of themselves, drug addicts, alcoholics, all of which have oppertunities shoved at them which they can use to change their lives. Some however, just want everything free, and expect society to carry their burden for them.
