The opportunity to bypass the media filter i.e., 3 paragraphs on Senator Allens wardrobe, 5 paragraphs reciting Webb campaign rumors and innuendos, 1 sentence about Senator Allens ideas and to give his message directly to Virginians has been successful enough that Senator Allen has chosen to give another address this Monday night.
This statewide, televised address will feature George Allens friend and supporter, Senator John Warner.
Station List for the Broadcast
Looks like Allen has pulled out all the stops!
BTTT
Wait for the haters to come in here and say allen is so desperate he needs warner to win.
He better leave Warner at home, something may rub off on him.
I like Sen. Allen a lot, and I'll vote for him enthusiasitically.
But a TV spot of two minutes or less, in a joint appearance with ole Hoppin' John? Who's gonna be swayed by that?
I think there's a lot of things to consider with this. The last 2 minute address obviously did what they wanted it to do.
And think about it. This will be talked about all week long.
Allen appears with Warner who disagrees with Allen and Bush on Iraq on Monday.
Wednesday, the President is coming to Richmond for Allen.
The RATS have tried to make a big deal about J. Warner disagreeing on Iraq. But the point here is that while Warner and Allen may disagree ~somewhat~ on Iraq and other issues, they both agree that Jim Webb doesn't belong in the Senate.
The RATS have also tried to use Reagan and McCain to boost Webb's image.
What do you mean his attempts to regulate gun control? Last i checked he passed a ccw law as governor and voted against renewal of assault weapons ban. Corin perhaps you can step in here for some more about his stance on guns.
I'm not really sure how to respond to that statement since none of it is based in fact.
GRRRRRRRRRRR........my dialup won't let me do the video, and unlike the last one he did, I was otherwise occupied at the time it aired tonight.....there is something about taking care of my daughter and her homework that seems to take precedence over politics with me.
Here's the transcript:
Address to the Commonwealth October 16, 2006
SEN. ALLEN: Hello. Im George Allen
SEN. WARNER: And Im John Warner. Im proud to support George Allen. He has been my strong, working partner for the past six years in the Senate. As a former Governor, George understands Virginia, understands its people. He has used that knowledge to become an effective voice in the Senate.
George is honorable, thoughtful and principled. And we have formed a bond of mutual respect and trust.
SEN. ALLEN: We make a good team and weve worked together successfully on many issues that are important to you. We provided tax relief to more than three million Virginians, promoted better education and healthcare and fought against wasteful government spending.
SEN. WARNER: Today, the security of our nation is vital. George and I stand for a safe and strong America. As Chairman of the Armed Services Committee, I have given my straightforward, outspoken views about the challenges that face not only our nation but the whole world, in Iraq.
Largely owing to the sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and their families, today Iraq is a sovereign nation. While the road ahead remains difficult, Iraqs government and its people must now show greater and greater strength against THOSE who want to destabilize the country and seize its oil to finance future acts of terror.
SEN. ALLEN: Your choice in this election matters. We cannot make our country stronger or our families more secure by raising taxes here at home and giving terrorists a safe haven abroad. We need to stand together to defend our freedom, our security and our way of life.
SEN. WARNER: Voting is one of your most valuable rights; exercise it with the greatest of care.
George has my vote. I ask you to keep him in the Senate as my partner.
SEN. ALLEN: Thank you, John. Im George Allen. I approve this message and respectfully ask for your vote.
Nice message.
Was Warner there to endorse Allen or Webb? ;)
heh
