UK students to protest Khatami visit t St Andrew's University.
- The Times Online reported that student leaders are organizing a mass protest over St Andrews University’s decision to award an honorary degree to former Islamic Republic President Muhammad Khatami.
- Sign this Petition. For all of you who have not as of yet signed the petition urging St. Andrews University in Scotland not to give the filthiest Mullah of them all, Mohammad Khatami the honorary award, please do so now!
Is the US seeking to use Khatami against Ahmadinejad?
- The Telegraph reported that the Bush administration made secret overtures to former Iran president Mohammed Khatami during his visit to the United States last month in an attempt to establish a back channel via the ex-leader.
It's the Regime, Stupid!
- Robert Kagan, The Washington Post argued that the inadequacy of the military strike option does not mean we can simply turn to diplomacy. Diplomacy by itself has no better chance of success.
- Omaha World-Herald reported that Reza Pahlavi said U.S. leaders must make a choice: Stand with Iranians who want freedom, or sit and watch the entire Middle East crumble.
Ayatollah Borujerdi finally arrested by the regime.
- Khaleej Times reported that Iran has arrested a controversial cleric, Ayatollah Borujerdi, and some of his followers who advocate separating religion and politics.
- Michael Rubin, The Corner reported that the regime has succeeded in arresting Ayatollah Boroujerdi. Sort of like they previously arrested Grand Ayatollah Montazeri and silenced Ayatollah Jalal ad-Din Taheri, Isfahan’s former Friday Prayer leader. It’s kind of ironic that the Bush administration chooses this moment, reportedly to seek a deal with the regime. If only we could have a President with George W. Bush’s principles and the willingness to stick to them…
The regime once again makes it clear: No end to enrichment.
- Reuters reported that Iran insisted on Sunday that it would not suspend its sensitive atomic work after world powers met to discuss sanctions against Tehran.

- Islamic Republic News Agency reported that that Ayatollah Mohammad-Taqi Mesbah Yazdi, Ayatollah Ali Khazali, Ayatollah Mohammad-Ali Taskhiri and Hojatoleslam Hassan Rowhani have applied for the election of the Assembly of Experts (the body that chooses their Supreme Leader). Rafsanjani was not among the candidates at this point.
- Monsters & Critics reported that German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said the international community faces a test of its credibility over how to react to Iran's controversial nuclear program.
