One memorable occasion occurred while ferrying a C-47 (the cargo version of what would eventually become the DC-3 passenger plane) from Norman, Oklahoma. Upon parking next to a commercial-airline plane at a stop in Memphis, one of two pilots was overheard to say, looking over at a woman pulling in the same plane they were flying, "Well, I guess they found us out!"
