MUSHROOM CLOUD'S GOP SILVER LINING

WASHINGTON - The North Korean nuke test wasn't the dramatic change-the-subject development Republicans have been praying for, but it offers the embattled GOP some hope in the 29 days before the election, political experts said yesterday.

Political pros say the test will be a temporary diversion from the Mark Foley cybersex scandal down the closing stretch of congressional campaigns and could play to the GOP's biggest strength: national security.

House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio), for instance, quickly accused Democrats of standing in the way of a missile-defense program: "It is now clear that such a position would weaken America's national defense."

And if North Korea tests another nuke in the coming weeks, the campaign would shift from an esoteric debate about international sanctions and U.N. resolutions to a more pressing national-security situation, political consultants said.

"It would no longer be a hypothetical we'll dance around. People will understand," said GOP strategist Kellyanne Conway.

That's a relief, we don't want to get distracted by unimportant things like rogue nuclear nations.

I am sure someone out there thinks Karl Rove got the North Koreans to explode a bomb so that all eyes will be taken off of the Foley scandal...

IF the 'Rats win then the Great Leader will probably get a set of golf balls signed by Tiger Woods to match the basketball he got.

Wow, it took less than a week for a major news paper to blame Rove. That's pretty damn impressive.

No, we have to concentrate on "the children" who are Pages and being abused by the horrible Republicans. But we must forget that Billy Pig Clinton made sure little 8-9 year olds found out what oral sex was.

MSM is trying to drown out reality with 'foleygate'. Liberals believe that they won't be the victims of this large step up in WMD proliferation. Delusional.

What does this mean. . .save the fact that too many voters (we assume they poll 'voters'. . .) are painfully fickle; and it would appear, they change their minds faster than a thermostat reading 'hot/cold'.

So; forget the polling.

Wait until 'Election day'; check the 'gas prices' at the pump. . .oil prices. . .and the hurricane index for next year. . .and just 'predict' then. . .the winners.

Meantime. . .thousands dying. . .nuclear clouds rising; terrorists promising.. .but noooooo, voting citizens; just forget about it.

Rove did this last Friday afternoon, after jawboning oil companies to lower gasoline prices...

Have the Republicans made any effort to draw legitimate contrast with Democrats over SDI? Even while the strategy is being implemented with Patriots into Japan, site negotiations in eastern Europe and basing ABM's in Hawaii, Bush fails to trace development opposed from its inception by the Democrats, who ridiculed it as "Star wars." Bush needs to point out the value of his having abrogated ABM treaty and pushing development after 8 years of idling under Clinton.

Poor dems, that nasty ol reality that the world is still a dangerous place keeps popping up and ruining their hate based scandal hyping platform.

Let's hope so. But rather than speculating about whether Kim Jong Il's vicious insanity will save our butts in the election, why not go out and pound pavement, or at least work the phones, in the key states and districts? That's what matters most. If we don't have an excellent ground game, we lose. And we'll need to make up for whatever flaky Bush volunteers have drifted away since the going was (relatively) good back in '04.

Actually I blame that more on Ken Starr. I am pretty sure Clinton didn't actually appreciate being found out. Heck, he even lied under oath to try and stop it.
