Republican Gays are Closeted Dems
Media Monitor ^ | 10/12/2006 | Cliff Kincaid

The complex nature of the "dirty trick" against the Republicans over the Mark Foley scandal is beginning to emerge. It doesn't involve a George Soros-funded group or emails that had been in the possession of the media or shopped around by Democratic operatives. Instead, the GOP has played a trick on itself. The party brought so-called gay Republicans into positions of power in Congress only to realize that the confidential information they held about a secret gay network was political dynamite that could backfire.

SNIP

The mystery man at the center of the scandal, Jeff Trandahl, is supposed to be a "lifelong Republican" who is gay. But Trandahl, who supervised the congressional page program as House clerk and knew about the controversial Foley emails many years ago, has a strange way of showing his Republicanism. A search of Federal Election Commission (FEC) records over the last six years shows no financial contributions to the Republican Party or Republican candidates. Instead, Trandahl in 2000 gave $1,200 to the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund, which gives over 80 percent of its political campaign money to Democrats.

Trandahl is so much of a Republican that he joined the board of the Human Rights Campaign Fund, another gay political action committee that commits most of its funds to electing Democrats. Its latest list of "winning candidates" is all Democrats, except for Republican Senator Lincoln Chafee, who admits not voting for President Bush in 2004.

If you are getting the idea that gay Republicans may be closeted Democrats, then you are beginning to understand how the Mark Foley scandal could have been a Democratic Party dirty trick.

Let me get this straight. The guy who was in charge of the congressional page program was gay? I had not heard that before.

The Catholic Church provides an object lesson in why unrepentant homosexuals should NEVER be put into positions of power or allowed to stay there when discovered.

I was going to add "no pun intended" but upon reflection decided it wasn't necessary;)

I read somewhere that Foley was a dem who actually ran as a dem a couple of times. He didn't win the seat until he changed his party.

I read it once. I would like someone to verify this. If it's true, I think the GOP should look very carefully at all those who have switched to the GOP in the last 10-15 years. Seems to me, there have been quite a few.

And tell me why I give a crap?
This is the best the Dems can dish out? Sheesh.

Quick find.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Foley

"Foley was born in Newton, Massachusetts, where his father Edward was a police officer. His godfather is retired Boston Red Sox player Jimmy Piersall, a friend of the elder Foleys.[7] When he was three years old, his family moved to Lake Worth, Florida. Foley is a 1973 graduate of Lake Worth High School; he later attended Palm Beach Junior College. Foley's mother is named Fran; he has four siblings.[8]

At age 20, Foley started a family restaurant in downtown Lake Worth, The Lettuce Patch, with his mother. He later became a real estate broker [9]. He has served as chairman of Gulfstream Goodwill Industries and Palm Beach Regional Hospital. Foley also is a past president of the Central County Council of Realtors and the Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce.

At the age of 23 Foley was appointed to the Lake Worth City Council as a Democrat. After some failed bids for higher political offices, he switched parties in the 1980s [10]. He was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1990 and to the Florida Senate in 1992.

Foley is not married, and when asked questions by the media about his sexual orientation during his political career, he declined to answer them. As long ago as 1996, online commentators and articles in the alternative media had mentioned rumors that Foley is gay—speculation that increased in 2003 during his aborted U.S. Senate bid, when Foley called questions about his sexuality “revolting and unforgivable” but did not refute them.[11]"

The facts on guys like Trannie-doll (Trandahl) will gradually come to light with the efficient work of the pajamahadeen. That is the great thing about blogs both right and left. Lies, cons & BS come to light much more quickly. I am not surprised that there are many gay staffers among Republican ranks. Gays (pretty much like everyone else) are attracted to where power, money and influence reside. There is a lot of power, money & influence to be had in Republican circles---so why let you're sexuality get in the way.
First of all, gays as a group are not this uneducated, poor underclass. They have the education, bucks and sophistication that enables them to go wherever they please...generally not causing any eyebrows to be raised unless someone shows up to work in a rainbow dress. (No, Virginia there is no gay pogrom going on ---obviously ---in the Republican party.)
Secondly, gays involved in politics are very concerned about promoting the gay agenda. There is really little apathy in this area. Why the heck are they in politics to begin with? Now I am not saying every gay person in Washington is an outrageous radical--but furthering the agenda on some level is of concern.
Thirdly: open, non-covert/closeted gay groups in the Republican party such as the Log Cabin Republicans basically have me shaking my head (no, not that one silly).
It's is primarily concerned about the agenda & visibility
within the Republican party. I would say that many of these people have their own issues to work out (oops, I'm playing therapist) and would feel more at home in Donkey Land except for some fiscal issues. Why does the Log Cabin group exist otherwise. It always comes down to about being gay. Most folks, except the most rabid of the religious right are content to have a don't ask, don't tell policy--but the gay agenda doesn't allow for that.
Thankfully Foley realized the gig was up and left for rehab (they all turn into alcoholics when they get into trouble) and didn't cheekily fight to retain his seat---like the gonif (yiddish for thief) down in Louisiana.
So goes my rant.

I hate to be suspicious of every little thing, but when dealing with dems one has to be. Your idea is a good one.
