MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Airport officials gave up Tuesday on a proposal to meant to ensure that travelers carrying liquor don't get stranded at the curb by Muslim cabbies who refuse to transport alcohol.
Hundreds of the taxi drivers who serve Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport are Muslims, and many of them, citing Islamic prohibitions against alcohol, refuse to knowingly take passengers who are carrying see-through bags of duty-free liquor, wine boxes from the Napa Valley and the like.

Note to the cabbies: A lot of your fellow Muslims who are delegates at the UN don't seem to have a problem being around Demon Rum....

For now, though, taxi drivers who refuse to carry these travelers will continue to forfeit their place in the taxi queue and return to the back of the line, which often means a three-hour wait for another fare.
This sounds fair to me.

I wonder if the sellers of the alcohol told the city how much in taxes they pay for selling said alcohol.

Here's the last paragraph from the article:
"For now, though, taxi drivers who refuse to carry these travelers will continue to forfeit their place in the taxi queue and return to the back of the line, which often means a three-hour wait for another fare."

public response has been overwhelmingly negative..
TRANSLATION: We got our as*es chewed by the travelling public who thinks the no alcohol policy is sheer lunacy..
glad they're returning to the end of the line..now, someone needs to take a bottle up there and run through about 40 of them before gettin to someone that WILL take them..enough hits to the wallet and they'll move on to another line of work, like pickin veggies in california or somethin..

These cabbies need to be told that if they want to live under sharia law they should go back to Somalia.

But the Metropolitan Airports Commission said the public response [to having special "no alcohol" lights on Muslim cabs] was overwhelmingly negative, and some taxi companies feared that people opposed to the system would switch to other forms of ground transport instead of cabs.I think the general public is getting more and more unwilling to give in to a bunch of PC cr*p from CAIR and its fellow-travelers.

another line of work, like pickin veggies in california or somethin.. BAD idea. We don't need more e.coli from left-handed lettuce pickers.

WRONG. THey should lose their license, their jobs, and their taxis.
Then ship them OUT of the country.

simple solution: break the somali stranglehold on taxi transportation by increasing the number of cab drivers--an idea tantalizing the city council for some time (more revenues, more revenues). it's absurd to leave travellers in, around, and thru a major metropolitan city in thrall to sharia law.

this example shows the weakness in the faith of these Muslims. If they knowingly carry booze, they could be punished in the hereafter. Fine, I can see their point. So, why not have the courage of your convictions, and forego the fare. Surely a just god would reward such piety and sacrifice in the hereafter. They don't care about God, or even the god/monster they pray to. Their only point is in trying to impose their will on others, and to be paid for it, right here on Earth.

Ahmadinejad reminds these cabbies they can do this but until there is peace and justice (all non-muslims wiped out) they are obligated to please their god and kill a few of these alcohol devils on their days off.

Why don't Christians start a cab company, call it "Glory" cabs, and hang crosses from the rearviews?
Only Muslims and vampires would refuse to ride.

The Muslims can excercise their freedom of religion, and accept the consequenses of their decisions. The travelers can get rides.
