Twelve people were killed and many others were wounded when a bomb exploded during a town festival in the southern Philippines, police have said. The bomb went off at about 2200 (1200 GMT) in front of the town hall of Makilala town in the southern part of the province of North Cotabato.

Associated Press quoted provincial police chief Federico Dulay as saying two people died on the spot.

Ten more died on the way to hospital in nearby Kidapawan city, he added.

The bomb exploded during a celebration for the town's 52nd anniversary, said Mayor Honofre Respicio.

Earlier, a blast in the market in the city of Tacurong, in southern Sultan Kudarat province, injured at least four people, army and police officials said.

"12 die in Philippines bombing"

The small mulsim population in the Philippines wants to create their own soveriegn islands. This is how islam has worked from the very beginning. They enter into a Christian, (or other 'infidel'), land in small settlements. Then they expand their settlements through procreation, and then they forcibly take what they want and continue to expand through procreation and violence. This is the way of islam, and why the West allows them to emmigrate onto our soil is mystifying to me. Perhaps the West believes that because they have secularized and "tamed" Christianity, weakened its power and diluted it, that they will do the same with islam. But islam won't be 'tamed'; islam will conquer any and all people who are weaker than they are.

Doesn't quite work that way in the Philippines. The immigration has been the other way since the mid-late 19th century, when Spain finally managed to dominate the Philippine Muslims and open Mindanao to Christian settlement.

Mindanao was a large, underdeveloped primitive island with plenty of free land, as the Muslim tradition was to work their land inefficiently with slave labor, for which they raided the rest of the Philippines. When Spain put a stop to this slave-raiding, the land was fallow.

Millions of Christian Filipinos have been settling Mindanao provinces ever since, until even Mindanao is 80% Christian. Even now they are still buying land and developing agriculture in traditionally under-populated Muslim core regions like South Cotabato, the location of this incident.

The reason the Muslims revolted in the 70's was this Christian immigration.

It always works that way with muslims, especially in the Philippines. The Philippines were a pagan indigenous people who saw islam arrive on their islands and establish themselves. Islam was introduced in the southern Philippines in the 12th century, and by the 1400's on Mindanao. By the 16th century the islamists had established several large principalities, including one near Manila. In other words, islam was swallowing up the Philippines through procreation and establishing sharia law. There were no organized, capable armies there to oppose them. It was indeed Spain who came to the rescue of the Philippines before they were totally consumed by islam.

One of the great lessons of what you posted is that islam tends towards stagnancy and poverty because of its oppressive sharia law and barbaric mentality. Once the Spaniards arrived the Philippines began to prosper. Around 1570 the Spanish defeated the muslim ruler Soliman. Even though southern Mindaneo has resisted Christianity for hundreds of years, all of the Philippines would now be islamofacists instead of free-living Christians if not for the Spaniards and their Catholic evangelists.

Well, yes, you are right that Spain came in at precisely the right moment to pre-empt the Muslim expansion. Spain and Islam met at the precise "bloody border" of the day, the easternmost extension of Islam. The site of Manila was taken by assault from a Muslim chieftain.

On the shorter-term question though the current phase of the wars was as I have said. The immediate cause is a reaction to Christian settlement. I have seen it with my own eyes, the growth and population of regions of Mindanao.
