A Secret Life (Did a Daily Kos diary cause the Foley story?)
msnbc.com ^ | 10/8/2006 | Evan Thomas

On Sept. 24, a site called stopsexpredators.blogspot.com published scanned images of Foley's e-mails to the pages, and within hours, the widely read liberal blog Daily Kos provided a link to the mystery blogger.

Over at ABC news, veteran investigative reporter Brian Ross had known about the Foley e-mails for some time, but he was distracted by more pressing stories. After the story was already out on the Internet, Ross published portions of the e-mails on his own blog, The Blotter.

The ABC blog seems to have opened the floodgates. Overnight, other former congressional pages began sending Ross much racier instant messages sent out by Foley, suggesting that the congressman had engaged in Internet sex and was angling for trysts. An ABC producer called Foley's office and read his staff some of the messages.

While we're on the subject, from this link...

On the Trail of 'Stop Sex Predators'

Head over to Ace of Spades, Hot Air and NBer Dan Riehl's blog where the hunt is on. Apparently, the owner of the blog lives in Royal Oak, Michigan, in the congressional district of prominent House Democrat John Conyers. That may not be significant but it does make you wonder how someone who posted at Daily Kos as WHInternNow would be privy to gossip about a congressman's sex life while living in Michigan

FWIW.

And the Executive Director of CREW worked for Conyers.

Everyone wants Pelosi & Rahm under oath, and they should be, but I'm seeing as many if not more connections to Conyers among all the players.

If I'm not mistaken, the Kos user "WHInternNow" posted the entry 12 minutes after the emails were posted on the obscure, as of then unknown SexPredator website.

Another key figure is CREW's executive director, Melanie Sloan, who worked as a legal counsel to then-Senate Judiciary Chairman Joe Biden and minority counsel to ranking House Judiciary Democrat Rep. John Conyers.

Wow. Thanks. Well, in light of the ethics truce between the two parties, this just puzzles the ever livin' heck outta me. What the devil were the Dems thinking? That the Pubbies would just roll over and give 'em a free one? If so, cocky, ain't they? Wonder why.

I thought everyone knew that the left constantly monitors everything that a conservative (or one in name only, like Bush) says and does, looking for instances of something that can be called racist/sexist/homophobe/jihadophobe. If he doesn't say anything, they look in his past. If they don't find anything there, they make it up.
Nothing new here.

Or was this payback for Jefferson? Dems lose a sleaze, Pubbies have to give one up, too, and Foley drew the short straw? Good gad, if that's the case, isn't this just lovely.

The thing that sticks out at me in that article...and before...is this Fordham guy.

I did NOT know that he was having lunch with Foley at the EXACT TIME that Foley gets "the call", that ends his career...very convenient, I say.

Well...they were reporting last night that Mayor Nagin has been campaigning for Jefferson...

Nothing to look at here....just go vote for Jefferson..don't worry that some of your friends could have died while the Coast Guard was taking him to his house to get his "funny money" out of the freezer...

Apparently Fordham left Foley's employ right after the media in Florida received the copies of the emails, in October 2005. I don't think that there is any doubt that Fordham was responsible. The question is why he did it. Was he being blackmailed? Or did he just hate Foley?
