Would she have gotten a failing grade had she written a derogatory account of the "gay community?"

The teacher would definitely not be toast if we were talking about the US, provided that the teacher was tenured.

ahhhhh, the joys and grandeur of government education.

I guess there isn't much time left to learn the basics, such as reading and math. No, pole smoking fantasy papers are what kids are being told to write.

Correct! Brisbane is more civilized than we are. She will be fired, or heavily censured.

Nope, The kid is toast:

After a series of discussions between the school and her mother, it was suggested the girl would be better off leaving the state education system and attending an independent school.

Soon, that 'independent school' will be a re-education center....

Interesting read -- the assignment involved a scenario involving a heterosexual minority on a moon-based homosexual colony. Tell us how you'd feel.

What an odd question -- how would you feel if you knew the majority of the community you lived in would be extinct in exactly one generation? And for a school aged kid, I'd imagine there wouldn't be much to worry about -- unless the moon homosexuals had somehow mastered the art of asexual procreation, you'd be schooled with kids from heterosexual families.

Just more proof that feelings-based education lacks even the slightest hint of critical thinking, or intellectual honesty in its design.

Just like the heterosexuals in P-Town, MA.

It is an odd question . I can see where you might want to attempt a similar style question .But why not ask her if she is white what she would feel like if she lived in an all black section of South Africa or since she is a Christian how would she feel living in Iran and since this little thought experiment involved a space station why not ask about living with aliens. That would be better.

Will it ever end?

Nope. We just have to remain vigilant.

Now or fifteen years ago?

... or since she is a Christian how would she feel living in Iran.
Now or thirty years ago?

Sources said the students were told not to discuss the assignment with their parents and that it was to be kept in-class.

Schools are indoctrination camps. Actively pushing parents out of education makes it much easier to indoctrinate their children. I'm sure these very same educators who complain that parental failure to be involved is the reason kids fail to learn the basics.

" Soon, that 'independent school' will be a re-education center.... A deprograming, and education center.

You can't accuse the public school system of actually giving kids an education, other than teaching how to have anal sex, the proper use of lubrication, and the evils of traditional familly planning.

"the assignment involved a scenario involving a heterosexual minority on a moon-based homosexual colony. Tell us how you'd feel."

It would be a very short assignment, which wouldn't require homework. "I would feel relieved knowing that humanity would always return to a state in harmony with natures design within a generation or two if allowed to progress without forced interference from the unbalanced side." I'd give this student an A+
