Former Attorney General John Ashcroft this week became the only Cabinet-level Bush official to attack the Sept. 11 Commission, writing in his memoirs it "seemed obsessed with trying to lay the blame for the terrorist attacks at the feet of the Bush administration, while virtually absolving the previous administration of responsibility." Ashcroft also writes that the commission's hearings "were not so much about discovering the truth as they were about assessing blame and grandstanding," adding that they "degenerated into show trials."

This "journalist" also had the nerve to say the WALL was built by a series of "court decisions in the 1980s"...but then LATER this "journalist" claims the wall created by GORELICK was continued by a deputy in Ashcroft's Justice Department.
Typical garbage.
Ashcroft told the truth, and the 9/11 clowns didn't want to hear it. President Bush didn't want to make it look political. That is what happened.
I have always thought that John Ashcroft was one of the most decent and honorable people that any administration could have. Can you imagine what any Democrat would have done if they had lost an election to a dead person? Certainly not the gracious act the Mr. Ashcroft showed us.
I'm glad he's speaking out. Of course the timing is suspicious.
";^)
Bill Clinton knows this. His temper tantrums as of late are evidence of this.
I am surprised, however, because I thought it would take 50 years for the fog of lies to clear. It seems to lifting right before us.
It indeed may be lifting, but with these people, there's always another fog planned.
I'm with you on trusting Ashcroft, and I'm glad, very glad he's writing his memoirs. I'll buy his book for sure, can't wait to see if he gets any of the MSM attention so showered on a Bob Woodward or Frank Rich tome.
But my opinion of Ashcroft is he was simply overcome and ill-prepared to handle the nasty, personal attacks the left pelted him with. His gentlemanly behavior to the widow Carnahan, and the ease which Democrats bullied him during his AG confirmation hearings, signaled to the left they could easily sabotage him as Attorney General. And they did. I think the nastiness of it all ruined Ashcroft's physical health.
Regarding 'The Wall':
I've long been of the opinion that the timing of Jamie Gorelick's rule on no co-operation between CIA and FBI was enacted, in large part, to stymie the investigation into Chinese cash to Clinton.
Just the fact that Gorelick was a member of the comission is enough in itself to discredit the whole report.
by having gorelick on the commission...any semblance of truth & balance was eliminated....this commission was a feel good mental masturbation to nothing more than prop up clinton and tyr to push the blame on Bush...if it got any more partisan it should have had muzzie representation/mckinney/UN representation...then they could have just blamed the Jews and everyone would have been happy!
Or will he let Ashcroft stand alone with the vicious lying Dim wolves attacking him in connivance with the vicious lying leftist media?

On Monday night's O'Reilly Factor, Ashcroft revealed one of the documents Sandy Berger lifted from the archives. Confirmation below:
To: Arizona Carolyn
"Speaking of leaks -- I haven't seen one thread here on FR talking about John Ashcroft on O'Reilly last night disclosing what the actual documents were the Sandy Berger stuffed in his pants."
I looked for a thread, too. He said it so casually it took me aback. What I understood is that Berger took the after-action report with notes from the millenneum plan. Is that what you heard?
Yes, that's what I heard and had the same reaction (I also looked for a thread here). O'Reilly didn't even really make much of it.
A couple of others also heard his comments, but these posts were the easiest to find on Google.
I'm going to buy his book, Never Again: Securing America and Restoring Justice.
"According to John Ashcroft, Berger stole the now infamous "Clinton anti-terrorism plan" from the national achives."
According to the poster, he heard Ashcroft say this on Fox News.
Boldfacing the comment because I'd not heard it before, anywhere else, and it seems .... astonishing.
Ask and ye shall receive....
See my #12.
Thanks!
Do you remember on what thread the comment was made? It would be advantageous to compile the 'hearings'. Sounds kinda like UFO 'sightings'. ;)
Nope. He'll let him swing in the wind.

I heard it too. Amazing O'Reilly didn't pick it up.
Nice turn of phrase. And so apropos.
It was this thread, on 10/4.
"CBS Terror Expert: Clinton Wouldn't Kill Osama"
Funny, no one else commented on it.
Peace will come when the Democrats love America more than they hate Republicans.
