(Breaking Now)Apex, NC, Plant Fire, Explosions Lead To Evacuations (15,000 people)

APEX, N.C. -- Authorities evacuated Apex residents and closed downtown streets late Thursday after a cloud containing chlorine gas spewed from a volatile industrial fire.
Apex Town Manager Bruce Radford said a leak at the EQ North Carolina plant on Investment Boulevard sent several large plumes of chlorine gas into the air around 9 p.m. A large fire broke out at the plant afterward, with multiple explosions heard nearby.
"This is the worst possible hazardous materials incident you could have," Radford said.

The list of chemicals that they have said are in the air is unbelieveable.
Evidently this is a place that retreives/stores hazardous waste, so they are dealing with chlorine gas, every chemical you can name.

I'm located about 5 miles from the site. Slight stench in the air. Turned AC off and closed alll windows. Storms are headed this way so wind directions will vary. The fire is out of control.

Looks like they have evacuated folks within 1 mile radius of location , can't get firemen in close to fight fire at this time.. bad situation.

If you're in the area do not screw around with this stuff. Chlorine is a lethal inhalation hazard.
ERG number 1017, large spill isolation area at night is 275 meters in all directions. Protection area at night is6.8 km (4.2 miles).
If you're not out of the danger area leave immediately unless you have been instructed to shelter in place.

All the stations are on live, they tried to do reverse 911 and alert people, but the 911 system is overloaded, so the town manager just came on TV and asked people to CALL people they might know in the area and get them out of there.
And here we have a dumb woman on the phone IN THE EVACUATION area who hasn't left yet..........can you say Katrina???
