The local Minutemen group was filming an informal day-labor pickup station where employers pick up cheap illegals. I do not know the precise reason why the men were filiming, though I presume they were preparing film for anti-immigration activist purposes.

Robert Copley, Jr., was one of the cameramen. He was assaulted by several illegals, and another cameraman almost had his camera stolen. I am unable to find a written account of the episode, but there is video coverage at Fox News.

Former state senator and Hispanic activist Polly Baca implies they had it coming: "The minutemen are acting in a totally unamerican fashion... it is not their place to enforce our laws, it is the place of our police officers, our safety officers to enforce our laws."

I do not know whether Fox News significantly misrepresented her remarks, but talking that way about an assaulted citizen journalist is despicable. I don't follow the Minutemen, but when their efforts at perfectly legal amateur information-gathering are classified as unamerican the message is loud and clear: "Shut up!"

Thank you, Polly, for showing to the people of Colorado that proponents of illegal immigration also condone other forms of lawbreaking within that community.

Somewhere I recall in the Declaration that it is our duty to over throw a govenment that is oppressive.

The lack of control of our borders is oppressive, IMO.

That makes my blood boil. This may be part of a coordinated effort by the Left to go after Minutemen.

Actually, it is their place. Ever hear of a citizens arrest? That aside, they werent enforcing any laws. They were merely filming an illegal activity.

Also: Mob rule at Columbia University (Michelle Malkin: Video at Link

Minutemen Project co-founder Jim Gilchrist spoke at Columbia University tonight. He tried to speak, that is. During his remarks, a mob of students stormed the stage and sabotaged the event. Every Columbia U. alum should be assailing the administration. Gilchrist is owed an apology. This is a disgrace.

Local burglars and stalkers claim that the Neighborhood Watch is wrong. "The Neighborhood Watch is acting in a totally unamerican fashion... it is not their place to enforce our laws, it is the place of our police officers, our safety officers to enforce our laws."

When linking to people who support illegal immigration, you might consider doing it to critical pages, like this: Polly Baca. That way those pages might show up higher in searches. (While that page has problems, at least it's got a lot more than the 9news one.)

Sure takes nerve and a pathological sense of entitlement.

We should treat illegals the same way Mexico treats them. President Eisenhower deported millions of illegals and there is no reason why we can't do the same.
