Hawaii Democrats Pay for Foley Scandal

Sen. Daniel Inouye Named in one of “Top Ten” Sex Scandals By Andrew Walden, 10/4/2006 11:18:09 PM

Evidence is emerging that Democrat operatives may have held transcripts of resigned Florida Republican Congressman Mark Foley’s salacious instant messaging conversations and emails for months if not years in hopes of using them in an “October surprise” in order to defeat Republicans at the polls.

The danger posed to underage Congressional pages is obvious -- but what is only now becoming evident is the danger to sitting Democrat Senators and Congressman as old sex-scandals re-emerge.

The media frenzy is having unintended consequences for Democrats here in Hawaii. One example is renewed media interest in a scandal involving Senator Daniel Inouye (D-HI). In recent days the Washington Post has included mention of an alleged 1975 incident involving Inouye which came to light in 1992:

See http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/special/clinton/congress.htm

“Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) - In October 1992, Republican Senate nominee Rick Reed began running a campaign commercial that included a surreptitiously taped interview with Lenore Kwock, Inouye's hairdresser. Kwock said Inouye had sexually forced himself on her in 1975 and continued a pattern of sexual harassment, even as Kwock continued to cut his hair over the years. Inouye, seeking a sixth term, denied the charges. And Kwock said that by running the commercial, Reed had caused her more pain than Inouye had. Reed was forced to pull the ad, and while many voters took out their anger on the Republican, Inouye was held to 57 percent of the vote – the lowest total of his career. A week later, a female Democratic state legislator announced that she had heard from nine other women who claimed Inouye had sexually harassed them over the past decade. But the women didn't go public with their claims, the local press didn't pursue the story, and the Senate Ethics Committee decided to drop the investigation because the accusers wouldn't participate in an inquiry.”

Based on the same incident, Dan Inouye is named one of the "top 10" Democrat Congressional Sex scandals by Human Events magazine.

http://www.humanevents.com/lists.php?id=17357

“10. Sen. Daniel Inouye. The 82-year-old Hawaii Democrat was accused in the 1990s by numerous women of sexual harassment. Democrats cast doubt on the allegations and the Senate Ethics Committee dropped its investigation.”

Democrats are hoping that they can use the Foley scandal against Republicans in the November elections. But this is not 1992 nor is it 1975. The story is playing out on the Internet, not in 30 minute nightly news broadcasts from ABC, NBC and CBS. The days when “the local press didn’t pursue the story” are over.

My understanding is that the page was 18 and therefore legal yet ABC notes under 18.

All I can say is "I told you so." (Not you personally RR). I said when all this started to come out, there are far more Dem perverts in DC than Republican perverts. It will hurt them far worse . . . and I won't be surprised if it doesn't in some way even trace back to Bubba's tenure!!!!

Right LS. My gut tells me those recent trysts by Bill Clinton in Canada and Europe are being mentioned right now in the GOP war room. A great way to nail Hillary.

Yea but will all this get to the American Public? We need a News source to get this out there. So far No MSM news source wants to get to the bottom of this. They are just taking ABC's word for it!

Bill Clinton: "*shudder* Please don't say 'nail' and 'Hillary' in the same sentence."

Like I said in another post, I am sure this scandal was supposed to launch in a few weeks. The Woodward stuff was supposed to take center stage for a couple of weeks and then this. Clinton and company decided to launch this thing prematurely because of the backlash he took for the FOX interview and he and the administration saw his leagacy starting to go up in flames. They also saw what the economy was doing as well as gas prices. They saw this election slipping away so they hit the panic button and launched this October surprise prematurely. It is already starting to backfire on them and I don't know if they have any other big ammunition.

Rove and company have not even fired a shot yet and as soon as the radio and TV ads go out showing how kooky the Dem leadership is, the Dems are going to want to cry "uncle." GOPTV will be their worst enemy and it will become another 2002.

It's interesting to see the Democrats in high dudgeon over a sex scandal. They might realize that after they have instructed the American public on the importance of moral rectitude in all things sexual, they should find a candidate in 2008 who is above reproach. I don't think Hillary fits that description, and certainly the first husband wouldn't.

I have that worry too except the bloggers now seem to drive the news now. The New Media has been leading the way to all the breaking news. The old media seems to follow. When they try their old methods, such as ABC with this story, it seems to implode under even the slightest scrutiny.

As this article points out:

But this is not 1992 nor is it 1975. The story is playing out on the Internet, not in 30 minute nightly news broadcasts from ABC, NBC and CBS. The days when “the local press didn’t pursue the story” are over.

As Jim Robinson suggested yesterday, its good to see the Democrat Party taking this predation seriously. Now, how about the Boy Scouts, etc ?

The Old Media HATES Bloggers! If they had their way they would get rid of them. They want control of the News! The only Media Source for Television we can rely on is Fox News right now.

From AJ Strata

What in the world are Democrats doing with this Foley mess? Check out what Bob Beckel said on TV last night:

Democrat operative Bob Beckel said on Hannity & Colmes this week that the mere fact Rep. Mark Foley (R-FL) was gay should have ”raised questions”, in regards to his communications with former Capitol Hill Pages. Beckel then compared Foley to a bank robber who ’should be kept away from banks’.

Well, either Beckel and his similar sounding Democrat opportunist are closet homophobes they cannot hold back, or (more likely) they think America is so frightened of gays that we are all closet homophobes and will fall for this line. Since we all know someone who is not straight, and likley consider them to be dear friend or family, this insult thrown at them for partisan gain is quite repugnant to Americans.

What is it about interns and democrats?

If they're not physically abusing the interns themselves, the democrats seem to have no problem in allowing (and observing) abuse for months while they document the activity for an October surprise.

Unless they knew all along that this kid was 18, isn't their behavior the very definition of sociopathic?

The democrat party is really in the hands of some very sick people.

Dems and liberal bloggers should be careful what they wish for. If they think that the only evildoers are in the Republican caucus, boy, they have something coming!
