Something about teachers. They're addicted to authority, and they think that their job is the most important job in the world. SO important, in fact, that they should not be subject to market forces. Because Lord knows we can't trust the parents with their children's education. No, an anointed elite must make these decisions.

"Something about teachers. They're addicted to authority, and they think that their job is the most important job in the world."

When my kids were younger and we still had TV, we started watching the Disney Channel. It was teachers' week, and Disney kept showing these announcements honoring "the most important person in your child's life--her teacher."

Since then I've noticed all kinds of propaganda echoing how teachers are more even more important than the parents, how they are heroes to children, etc.

I think it's a result of the "it takes a village" mentality.
