I'm sorry, I guess I just have zero tolerance for child molesters and people who enable them.
There's no such thing as a private IM or E-mail. That's why Rummy doesn't even have E-mail at home or work. Anything that goes out on the Net is public.
A friend who used to work for the NSA and now has a private security company, used to hack into the White House computers and leave nasty messages for their computer guys. The NSA was all over the Bush the Elder and the Clinton White House about computer security.
He tells companies that if you have information you want secure, never allow it to be put on a computer that is EVER connected to the Net. Anything on a computer connected to the Net is available to people who want it bad enough.
E-mail and IM are like publishing it in the newspaper.
Could it be because Conservatives have greater moral values than Democrats and Liberals? Could it be that no matter who the perpetrator and those who help him conceal his despicable, abominable acts are, people still need to be held responsible for their actions?
Huh? Huh? When is Denny Hastert going to point a crooked finger at the camera and say: "I did not have self-gratifying, sexual relations with those e-mails." ?

Sorry, not buying the spin of "The emails were weird but OK, it's the IMs that were bad."
A coach, teacher or Scout leader who sent a 16-year-old an email asking what he wants for Christmas and for a pic would raise alarm bells. Said person would be removed very quickly. The fact that Foley was a barely in the closet single male should only have added to the concern. Just telling him to cut it out, with no further investigation, was inadequate. To continue my analogy, a principal or BSA executive director who took that course of action would be fired.
Not defending the Dems here, who are even more vile because they are also hypocrites. But the GOP leadership really dropped the ball on this one.
PS--just so we are clear on my party loyalties, until Monday morning I had one of those "US Congress" calendars hanging in my office...courtesy of Rep. Mark Foley.

Well, tell me, Mr. Mark Foley Calendar Guy, how do you feel about the fact that Nancy Pelosi had copies of the text messages for THREE YEARS and did not notify the proper authorities in order to protect underage pages from a potential molester, chosing instead to release them at the most politically opportune moment?
In my opinion, we need a special prosecutor to determine what the Democrats knew, and when they knew it.
Congressman Tom Reynolds in a statement issued today indicates that many months later, in the spring of 2006, he was approached by Congressman Alexander who mentioned the Foley issue from the previous fall. During a meeting with the Speaker he says he noted the issue which had been raised by Alexander and told the Speaker that an investigation was conducted by the Clerk of the House and Shimkus. While the Speaker does not explicitly recall this conversation, he has no reason to dispute Congressman Reynold’s recollection that he reported to him on the problem and its resolution.

Hastert's job is to LEAD. He didn't LEAD. His number one job is to protect the House majority from exposed flanks like this. The dems can drive a truck through this on Election Day, and if Hastert had been LEADING and proactive regarding the "over-friendly" (WTF does that mean?) e-mails, this could have been nipped in the bud.
Why does everyone feel the need to repeat MSM/Dem innuendo and lies? Are they really that reactionary, or do they not understand the difference between an email and an IM? Or do they not know or care that the FBI and parents also saw the emails and saw no crime?
AIM saves IMs. On YIM I believe you have to set preferences to save the messages.
